Milwaukee Flash Sale Acme tools May 20th 2019

Over at Acme Tools, they’re holding a 2-day Milwaukee Tool flash sale. Ending tomorrow, save 15% on select Milwaukee cordless power tools, tool storage, and other products.

There are a lot of exceptions, and upon inspection, it seems that they’re on most if not all Milwaukee power tool accessories, such as their Shockwave bits, select outdoor power tool kits, and some hand tools.

I added a random assortment of Milwaukee tools to my cart, to find examples of what the discount will work on:

  • Milwaukee M18 threaded rod cutter
  • M18 Rocket dual power tower light
  • M18 backpack vacuum kit
  • M18 brushless barrel-grip jigsaw
  • Packout tool box combo kit

The “exclusions” list surprised me at first until I tried a few and saw that a lot of them were similar SKUs, such as for a whole lot of Shockwave power tool accessories.

The max discount is $100, meaning you’ll see maximum savings on a ~$667 order.

Of course I just ordered something from them yesterday. Thanks for the heads up. I just sent them an email asking to be credited the difference.

I had ordered the String Trimmer that is currently on a Milwaukee promo with the free hedge trimmer. When I saw the deal here on Sunday, I went back to Acme and put the trimmer ad the freebie into the cart. I added the discount code and the system reduced the price by $49 and change. This prompted me to write Acme customer service to ask “since it hasn’t shipped, should I cancel and reorder or will you just credit my Paypal account?” After another email prompt yesterday, I got a response saying that there was only only discount – either the free hedge trimmer or the $49 discount.

I put the items back into the cart yesterday and sure enough, adding the discount code removes the “free” item.

While this doesn’t make sense logically as the free item is a Milwaukee program and the 15% off is Acme’s incentive, I guess they can make their own rules and change their website accordingly.

What this does show is that one should always take a screenshot when these types of sales come up.

That list of exclusions is a mile long. Ridiculous.

Most cordless tools (the ones I checked), and Packout tool boxes are eligible.

Yes, but see what I mentioned about it. A lot of those are things like every individually sized Shockwave drill bits. Some OPE kits are excluded, and I also saw some hand tool SKUs.

I ordered an M12 Jigsaw, and got the discount. Been thinking about one of these for a little while, and never see it on sale. Thanks for the tip!

Tom, I’m in the same boat but I’ve been looking at the new M18 barrel grip jigsaw which is available at Acme with the discount. For me it’s a toss-up between the Milwaukee M18 2737B-20 or the Dewalt DCS335B 20V Max, both barrel grip designs. I was able to put my hands on the Dewalt unit earlier today, thanks to International Tool, but I can’t find anyone near me with the Milwaukee jigsaw in stock.
I really liked the Dewalt jigsaw, it felt great in my hand and was well balanced with a 5ah battery attached. Despite some reports of vibration with this saw, I didn’t notice any undue vibrations. In fact my impression was quite the opposite and it felt smooth throughout the speed range. The Dewalt does have a tooless bevel change which was smooth and worked well at the positive stops or anywhere in between. The Milwaukee includes the required hex wrench for any bevel changes.

On paper both jigsaws are very close in dimensions and weight. The Milwaukee is rated at 0-3500 spm and the Dewalt a little less at 0-3200spm.
Milwaukee also has a nice feature that the Dewalt does not. On the variable speed dial, Milwaukee has 1-6 set speeds and just past the 6 is an A, for Auto-control start. On the A setting the Milwaukee starts out slow and ramps up, or down, the speed as conditions dictate. This could be a very nice feature to have.

So now I have a decision to make and see what deals I can find around Father’s Day.

I’m trying to resist the urge to buy the M18 PEX crimper because not only is it $100 off but Milwaukee’s running a promo where they give you an M12 2.0 battery and M12 PVC shears with it… Thanks for the heads up.

That’s a tough one. I don’t know about the bundle, but if you pass on it now and change your mind, there will always be other deals and discounts to look forward to.

Yeah, I’ve been vascillating on the PEX crimpers for years. I just don’t do pex enough to need them. It’s just when you’re under a house and have to hold the pipe still with one hand and then leverage the manual crimpers with your chest, that you begin to think some cordless ones would be great… Or when you’re doing an entire house.

Ah, okay, so the bundle is via Milwaukee rebate.

          https://www.milwaukeetool.com/E-Rebates/E-Commerce

The regular price is $729. With this deal, you’d get $100 off, so $629 plus tax for the crimper kit, plus the $149 PVC cutter, and an M12 battery that can be charged off the M18/M12 charger.

I believe that Milwaukee regularly has rebates on this kind of tool.

Acme’s promos have been lower-valued recently. A year ago, the discount cap might have been $150. Recently it’s been $50 or $100.

If you don’t foresee an immediate need, you could try for a more convincing deal or discount. The rebate period closes July 31st, and so there might be a July 4th discount at Acme Tools or elsewhere.

Or, give it 6 months. If you lean closer to “I need this,” maybe a Labor Day or winter holiday promo will be more convincing.

If you think you don’t do enough PEX work to need the crimper, there’s no harm in waiting. Maybe a better deal will win you over.

I’m probably supposed to be the voice on your shoulder that says “c’mon, you know you should buy it,” but if you’ve been yo-yoing about it for a few years, there’s no harm in waiting longer. You’ll know when it’s a right time to buy it.

Or, maybe a gremlin will somehow misplace or break your manual crimpers. =)
