At the end of Milwaukee Tool’s first Pipeline 2020 episode, they said that we could look forward to news about Milwaukee entering a brand new category.

Hmm, a brand new product category for Milwaukee Tool… what do you think it could mean?
The new Milwaukee Packout vacuum is their first (non-radio) M18 + Packout tool storage product. Perhaps there are other M18 cordless power tool and Packout innovations soon to be announced? But that wouldn’t be a new category, would it?

I would venture a guess that it’s not going to be related to jobsite lighting, PPE, or trade-specific tools.
It probably isn’t related to Milwaukee Packout tool storage products either, since that’s an existing and expansive category in itself.

They used to sell a M12 (2320-20) laser level ( 2 beam non rotating) – but dropped it some time ago. At one point they were bundling them in with other items as “freebees”.

I’m wondering. If they go to mowers I have to think they will finally do M18x2. Snowblower incredibly demanding tho (even EGO runs 2x60v) so I wonder if they can really go there with even 2×18?

M18 doesn’t make sense to me for mowers and snow blowers. Perhaps they would go with the 72v MXFuel line. Probably not given how MXFuel is priced…

My bet is commercial OPE powered by MX Fuel battery platform. M18 is too weak for serious OPE, even consumer-grade. Brands like Ego already cost less than M18 Fuel OPE and are FAR superior with much more growth potential.
Once the commercial MX Fuel OPE line is established ($3000 lawn mower and $4500 snowblower kits) they can introduce cheaper consumer-grade versions which cost 50% more than their competition, which Redheads will gladly buy. Gonna have to do something about the cost of those batteries though… $600 is pretty steep for a 432Wh battery – that’s $1.39/Wh.
Ego sells their 7.5Ah battery for $350, and at 378Wh it’s only $0.93/Wh, way cheaper than MX Fuel.
Milwaukee’s own M18 12Ah HD battery is only $1.02/Wh ($220 and 216Wh) and uses 4Ah 21700 cells which are more expensive than the 3Ah 21700 cells in the MX Fuel batteries. Who do they think they’re fooling??? Drink that Wisconsin Cool-Aid everyone! 🙂

With Ego out at Home Depot and there being a Milwaukee M18 product in all of Who’s segments except two: mowers and inverters. Since there is a MX Fuel inverter, I’m going to push my chips toward mowers. It just makes too much sense.
Then again since it makes sense, that is why I will probably be wrong an it will turn out to be a M18 bicycle to compete against the Makita LXT bicycle.

It is going to be mowers and more outdoor power equipment. Home Depot lost EGO to Lowe’s. After this fall HD will no longer have EGO. There a long back story to it, but it boils down to Chevron tools owning Skill and EGO, and also makes Lowe’s brand of battery tools. HD isn’t going to carry Skills new battery tools, and Lowe’s is. Lowe’s gave Chevron a larger footprint in their stores so Chevron went with Lowe’s for all their brands. So HD went to PPI (Rigid, Ryobi, and Milwaukee) and said hey we need more outdoor power equipment. Since PPI and HD are in bed together PPI said ok. Just wait you will see Milwaukee mowers and such just before spring at HD. BTW I work for HD, and know what’s going on.

It’s red and black – but it has a big black bull on it. Toro has a lot more floor space this year. Their 60 MAX line is really taking off.
In addition, Cub Cadet has its new electric mower and 60-volt yard tools.
Hopefully, Ryobi will move to Lithium-ion in their mowers soon…

My guess is that you don’t know as much as you think you do. Here it is summer of 2021 and there’s not even a hint of a mower yet.
If they were planning to release a mower in 2021, they would have done it by now.

I’m glad you folks ruled out reflective safety gear… I’m normally a DeWALT guy, but even I said to myself “But… I thought Milwaukee already DOES Reflective Safety gear?? What would they be expanding into? Pants? Shoes? That’s still reflective safety gear… What’s new about that?”
I would lean into the Mower and Snowblower side of things. And, if they’re REALLY cruel to their competition, they’ll make them MX Fuel powered.

This isn’t a true plunge saw. Also, not attachable/detachable miter rail saw but the Festool HKC /Mafell KSS seem niche.

I would be upset if that’s what they are going to release as a track saw. That’s just a circular saw with a modified base plate, not much innovation there. Don’t get me wrong, it would still be nice to have but something with better dust collection ability and a plunging action would be way better.

It seems like the wrong time of year to come out with any kid of yard maintenance tools I can’t imagine they would squander the buzz of new tool announcements outside of spring if that’s what they were announcing.. my guess is either a line involving tracksaws and routers etc that use the tracks, or some dust extraction line with a HEPA vac and some Sanders.. but maybe that’s just wishful thinking

M18 PACKOUT kegerator… You could slap it on top of the dolly, and you wouldn’t have to lug it around! While they’re at it, how about an M12 tap to eliminate the pumping? I can see the ad now: “34 keg stands on a single 4ah battery!”
All joking aside, as gimmicky as it is, I’ve always wanted one of the Makita cordless coffee makers. Also, a refrigerated M18 packout cooler would pay for itself with the money I spend on ice every summer. Or, maybe go the other way with an M18 heated hand wash station / camp shower? Resistance heaters pull a ton of amps, but those jackets they make stay pretty toasty on a single 12v.

As far as lighting improvements, I would like remote control lighting. (At least in the tower lights). New category: “battery vehicles”! These could be jobsite vehicles(Golf cart/ UTV style). And expand to riding mowers. Could feature solar charging panels. And powered carts(Wheel barrow type). Perhaps even a pallet mover.

Oh… I’ve never replaced it. I just take a compressor to it. I’m not working with hazardous dust or anything like that though, mostly just dog hair, toddler crumbs, tracked in dirt, etc. I didn’t realize they say not to clean it yourself ??♂️ (FWIW, it still runs great and cleans great after many many many personal cleanings)

I would love to see them produce a mower but that doesn’t seem like a “new” product line it’s squarely in the OPE arena. I could see them get into laser levels with their acquisition of Empire. It would be a somewhat new line (they already have laser measuring units) Maybe manual trimming gear like hand pruners, loppers, saws, I don’t know though. Industrial paint equipment also makes sense as others have mentioned, though not of interest to me, therefore not very exciting in my world. They already have:

A packout adaptable work station would be awesome. I’m envisioning a hand truck style frame that allows you to attach packout containers to the front but has an MFT style table that swings up or attaches onto the back. The work surface can be used either attached to the hand truck or as a stand alone table so that you can still use the hand truck to move your packouts around or to move material around. Imagine being able bring all your tools and a work station where ever you want all in one trip. That would be awesome, probably just wishful thinking, but a guy can dream… Can’t he?

To be honest, I would hope that when all is said and done that the level of interest is close to the interest that NPS2020 would have attracted. The goal, as I would see it, is to fill that hole as much as possible.
Other brands have tried to duplicate the atmosphere of Milwaukee’s NPS events, but with limited success.
Frankly, I don’t see others putting in the same level of effort that Pipeline has required. Some other brands have grown happy with shallow social media posts, eschewing typical press releases and media info that I have long appreciated and even relied on.

I wonder if possibly they’ll move into “pro” tool storage. Their toolboxes/workbenches have been at the prosumer price point, I wonder if they’ll target higher end stuff. Manufactured in the US to get around tariffs perhaps?
While thinking of this, I thought “wouldn’t it be cool if there was a unit with slideout Packout brackets, such that your existing Packout boxes became the drawers?”. Depth would be the issue but it’d be cool being able to grab a couple “drawers” and head out of the shop to work on something. It’d probably be priced at $2500 and not include any boxes to put into it, $5k for a fully loaded unit. Might still be worth it to someone though.

I’m taking a wild guess here. Milwaukee will enter the portable saw horse and work table space. They’ll release products to compete with the Kreg Portable Work Table KWS-1000 or Worx Pegasus, but at a pro level. There is room in this market for an innovative company to go way beyond the current offerings. They already have the infrastructure in place with the Packout line. You know, engineering plastics and metal to professional tasks & durability. If not, they should. There hasn’t been a major player revolutionize this industry for over a decade.
