Maybe it’s me, but why is it these kinds of deals that only seem to be available online? By the time you pay for shipping, you’ve exceeded the value of the can opener anyway. In fact, I’d argue that you’ve exceeded the value of both!

Because it’s easier and less expensive for them to offer it this way. It is unclear how many Home Depot intends to sell/give away as a bonus. Let’s say 1000? If they were to make this a retail store item, less than 1/2 of their stores would each get (1) bottle opener to bundle for free.
If they sent (5) to each Home Depot USA location, that means nearly 10,000 units (~2,000 USA locations), plus an additional quantity for online sales.
You can still order the bonus tool combos for free in-store pickup, but you’d have to wait a couple of days. This might change if/when the bottle openers become regularly stocked items.

Was asking a Home Depot associate what the hot deals would be this Christmas, said the bottle opener/knives were coming soon! They had the trees up so tool deals can’t be too far behind. Also mentioned a free battery promo Michael. Not sure what tools its on though

I picked one up last week at the store. The kit with the knife. Its now my favorite utility knife.
Best part of the kit is that the bottle opener has a wire stripper in the handle.
