Two regulars expressed their disappointment about the short entry periods I gave to most of this week’s giveaways.
My goal was to get the giveaways up, open, closed, and fulfilled as quick as possible, so that I can move to the next batch of tools to sort through.

Since the posts all missed the 11am auto-email cut-off time, I scheduled the end date for 11:59pm ET the next day, hoping to give email subscribers a shot at the giveaway. I closed those posts to new comments at 12:15am.
But, at least 2 regular readers and commenters missed the giveaways. Thinking about it, I’m sure they’re not the only ones.
Update: This new giveaway is for people who missed their chance at entering the other giveaways because of the short entry period. This giveaway is not intended for those that chose not to enter the previous giveaways, because the prizes will be as close to those as possible! Don’t worry, there will be more giveaways and other opportunities to come.
Sorry, I thought that ~34-35 hours was more than enough for a quick giveaway. I did also give advance notice that giveaways were coming. I didn’t know that there would be 6 giveaways at once, though.
That first giveaway is still open, but I think I prefer shorter giveaway entry times for test sample giveaways like these.

My favorite tool is not quite a tool, it is my R&J Leathercraft Leather Single Pocket Knife Pouch. It is on my side whenever I am working, it holds: 2 Crain utility knives one with a standard blade and one with a large hook blade, a Stanley Powerlock with BladeArmor 25′ and a carpenters pencil. It would be difficult to work without.

Well, lets see………. my current cordless drill platform is the Craftsman C3. For obvious reasons I won’t be spending any more money on this. I do plan on getting a starter kit in the 18v Milwaukee line. Re the current tool giveaway, I am sure I would not be disappointed in any tool you choose to giveaway. My favorite tool would be the Tekton screwdrivers with the three-sided handle. I actually learned about these via Toolguyd and bought the 10-driver set back in November.
For me, these screwdrivers have become the kind of thing where you never realized what you’re missing until you try them. For most of my life, I’ve found most screwdrivers to be very uncomfortable, especially when straining with a tight screw. Not so with the Tekton ones, which are the most comfortable screwdrivers I’ve ever used. I actually make a custom PVC holder for them for my workbench.

Most used and liked tool is my Dewalt impact driver, followed by my Olfa utility knife for opening all my packages.

I didn’t miss the entries, I just didn’t feel I’d make much use out of all the items and should let someone else try and win. Who knows with this one. 🙂
I will say the one tool I continue to use is a Harbor Freight 1/2″ drive composite ratchet. I don’t even want to “upgrade” it. It’s nicely balanced while using it and it’s lightweight enough to be holding it up above the head for a longer period of time.
Not sure I have a favorite between the Makita and Dewalt 20v cordless tools I have.

My favorite tool is always the one currently in my hand. In this instance the last tool in my hand was a Makita rear handle 36v circular saw. As the reviews have touted, cuts like butter, easy to keep on your cutting line and plenty of power!

Benchmade 940 Osborne, largely due to its elegant design and my frequent need of a knife. Granted I work in an office writing software so it’s not as though I am a tradesman’s relying on it for my income. Yet, day in and day out I have it and when I need it either working on my house, projects, or simply opening boxes.

Oooh I’ve been eyeballing that knife. She’s a beauty. It was Stuart’s “I think I like knives” post that got me started. I fricken knew it! Suddenly I’m watching five or six Nick Shabazz reviews at a time and I discover Benchmade knives, so beautiful, so useful. The Osborne is high on my list, also looking hard at the Bugout 535. The price is nice and it’s ultralight, which fits my style of backpacking. My use would be geared more toward hiking than an edc. Do you have any other knives? What are your favorites? Is there one on your wish list.

My favorite tool these days is the Milwaukee M12 caulk gun. Caulking has always been a challenge for me. Could never get an even, consistent bead before. This tool changed all that.
I plan to use it for grouting too. Fill the grout in empty caulk tubes and dispense along the joints only, instead of spreading it all over the tiles using the float. Hoping that is an easier alternative, especially for narrow grout lines.

I want that caulk gun so badly I cannot even describe it. I hate caulking more than anything and with two bathrooms and two kitchens that need to be completely re-sealed, I keep putting the project off because caulking is the bane of my existence.

Makita sub compact 18v impact driver. Absolutely love the light weight of it, I dont even notice it hanging on my belt all day at work unless I put a 3.0 battery in it.

I love all tools. My grandfather gave me all his tools when he moved to an assisted living facility. I have his old Craftsman ratchets from the 1940’s. They were all I had for a while, and I recently bought some Kobalt 90 tooth ratchets. I must say, I do like them. Love your site, and can’t wait to see what this give away is, and I hope I win.

My preferred platform would be Dewalt as my garage is starting to turn more yellow as I just bought a house with a garage big enough to start filling up. My favorite tool would have to be my dewalt 10” sliding miter saw as I use it on most of all my projects, but as I’m remodeling my house I found my dewalt 20v oscillating tool to be not far behind. It has become quite helpful with the various remodel projects.

My favorite is a Stanley Yankee push drill. It’s the one that’s all chrome, and the bits store in the handle. My dad has one that is marked Bell System, from his days working there. I wanted one of my own and didn’t want to take his, so I found a NOS one in the box on eBay. I use it all the time.

My favorite tool is my Gearwrench 72t stubby 3/8″ ratchet. Most fasteners don’t need *that* much torque, really, and this thing is so much easier to handle (especially for quickly moving fasteners when they’re not especially tight but not quite loose enough to just move with your fingers). I love it with a passion I can’t quite justify for a tiny bit of metal and feel genuine glee every time I have a chance to use it. I don’t think I can say that about many other tools.

My favorite tool is my porter cable 2 1/2″ x 14″ belt sander. It is great for quick removal of material when scribing cabinets or trim. Most importantly it is very light. Its much easier to control than 3″ belt sanders because of its weight and the way it fits in my hand.

Dude! Sing it! Love that belt sander. You can scribe anything with one hand. I’ve used it scribe 16′ baseboard lickety split. It’s great at sharpening chisels too. It’s slower speed doesn’t tend to blue the metal. You know, I don’t think I ever actually sanded anything with it.

Like someone else posted above, I didn’t have particular need for the prior giveaways and figured others should get the shot at them. My favorite tool would have to be either my work’s automatic greenlee wire strippers, or a set of felo ergonic screwdrivers. Then my personal vernier calipers would come in second. I like the idea of a surprise! Anything made in the USA, or some electrical work tools would be awesome! Thanks for your help Stuart with queries I have had in the past! Cheers!

I can’t stop thinking about Knipex Installation Pliers 8” 200mm. Its only tool I needed to replace a pump in Bosch Dishwasher. It’s the only tool I needed to install floodlights in my garage. I liked them so much I bought new version with comfortable handles and spring for stupid $70. Yet there was no buyers remorse.

I don’t know how I can choose just one tool… I love them like my children. If hand tools count, I might have to pick my Lie Nielsen LA block plane. It fits my hand like a glove, it’s the perfect weight, it’s sharp as hell and I use it on every project for breaking edges, flushing joints and edging, impromptu planing when I don’t want to pull out the bigger planes and a lot of cleanup to hide my mistakes. The only tool I use more is probably my table saw (maybe my DW735X…).
If hand tools don’t count… I’m currently having an affair with the Makita “flagship” impact driver. I’ve never had an impact driver, just a Makita entry level drill that’s served me well and was my first ever tool. It is so much nicer than any other hand power tool I’ve ever used. I put up two sets of shelves on the garage beams – one before I got the driver and one after, and the first took half an hour and left me sore and covered and sweat (and most of the screws stripped), while the second was knocked out in 5 minutes. I think I saw it on the 25 off Makita deal right here on tool guide.
BTW I follow the site via RSS, not email, and I have commented before. I did see the giveaways but didn’t enter. I like the idea of not knowing what the prize is – it’ll be like X-Mas in January!

Anderson Power 1368 crimp tool. It makes proper crimps on Anderson SB style terminals, as well as the larger Power Pole terminals that I use for both personal and professional use. Everything from Jumper Cable sets, to my whole house UPS battery bank, to test cable adapters are made with it, and it is the ‘correct’ tool for the job for which nothing else has come close.
Preferred cordless power tool brand – Dewalt at this time, due to their proliferation into markets where I have a need.

After some thought, my favorite tool, is the one I use the most. It is a Zebralight H600Fw MK II Neutral white head lamp. I use it more then any other single tool. It seems that I always need a little more light, from working in the yard after dark, to fixing something under a cabinet, cleaning the carb on my snowblower, removing a splinter from my hand, any work over my head in the house, wiring, cleaning, etc… I reach for this head lamp more then any other tool, because it makes my use of my other tools better. I have a good quality charger and a number of spare batteries so that I always have many hours of use. I highly recommend the Zebralight products and especially the medium width flood head lamps.

My favorite tool lately has been the 18-Volt ONE+ Hybrid 20-Watt LED Work Light. I hang the light above me anytime I am working on something. It makes it so much easier to see. I guess it means I also need better shop lighting.

I have to say I was really excited about the Dewalt Oscillating Multi-Tools. I have a Ryobi One+ Oscillating Multi-Tool and I find that using a bolt to attach the blades is awkward. The next oscillating tool I get will have a tool-free blade change mechanism.

I’m always looking for something better. I’ve been using DeWalt cordless tools that I bought to build a workshop. Needless to say, those have seen a really HARD life. I’ve not necessairly been impressed with the DeWalt lithium adapter setup as the batteries seem to die even when not in a tool. The NiMH didn’t do that.
I think I’m headed to Ridgid and Milwaukee at some point though I do still have a JC Penney 3/8″ corded drill that gets used periodically.

Wow, tough to narrow down to a tool. A DIYer who is now 5 years into a live -in renovation project. I have two smaller Dewalt pry bars that came came in a set that have been extremely handy.
Runners up most likely would be the Dewalt 2.5 gallon air compressor with a Dewalt trim nailer or my “12 Hitachi laser Miter saw. I could not afford a Dewalt one at the time but have just upgraded on recent deals that I found on this site over winter break.

Favorite tool? A loaded question. So far, though, my ‘favorite’ tool has to be my 6-in-1 pliers and demo screwdrivers from Milwaukee. They’re not fancy. They’re not high-tech. But they get more use than anything in my arsenal.
I love my tool collection but realize that after five years into my DIY/woodwrking adventure, most of my tools were “wants” not needs; and now that I’m rebuilding my late mom’s house … my needs and wants don’t line up! I saw an earlier poster rave about the Milwaukee caulk gun — on my wish list as I have two bathrooms and two kitchens in two units to renovate. I’ve been eying up Ryobi’s version, too and while I’ve been blindly loyal to Milwaukee, I’ve given up my dream of living off a single battery platform for the rest of my life. Until I get this house rewired (1960s code … wow), every thing I do has to be as cordless as possible. Cordless nailers. Cordless compressors. Cordless caulk guns. If the Ryobi cordless vac or Ridgid cordless heater ever come into my local Home Depot, I’ll camp out to buy them!

i love my M12 gear; but my favorite is probably the Ryobi Bt3100 tablesaw that belonged to my best friend’s late father. Josh already had a SawStop, knew i didn’t have a tablesaw, didn’t have the heart to sell it, had no use for it himself, but wanted to see it go to a good home where it would be cared for and used.
i don’t get to use it as much as i’d like, but it’s served me well for several years now.

The tool I always recommend to everyone I meet (well, almost everyone) is the M12 subcompact bandsaw. I love that tool. It gets almost as much use as my Bosch 12V drill.
Note – don’t try to cut braided cable with it – I sent myself to the emergency room with an almost severed thumb tip…

Currently my favorite tool in my arsenal are my cheap kobalt screwdrivers in the house. Having recently purchased a new house having a cheap set in the house for little jobs saves me time and reduces the chances I get brought the wrong one.

I don’t have a favorite cordless brand currently. I currently don’t own any cordless tools as I had to sell most of My power tools including all of My cordless tools to make ends meet.

I was another one that missed the party, happy for the ones that one though. I’m pretty excited that your even doing a do over for us procrastinators! I don’t care what any one says, but winning something is just plain fun, especially tool related goodies. I too loved and had many uses for allot of the tools you had in the giveaway 2 3 4 & 5, I sadly missed out on, like all the others here. I know it’s hard picking I winner when ever one of us deep down says pick me. But a again we all thank it’s pretty awesome that you do these giveaways when you don’t even have too. For me I could use allot of those tools just like that next guy or gal and would be happy with any of them. For power tools I myself am a Dewalt Ryobi guy and I do have a few m12 Milwaukee tools, most of my hand tools are vintage Craftsman. I do have a few things you showed me on Toolguyd that are on my dream list, which is one a Dewalt Portable power station, that I could find many uses for like running testing tools at the flea market, running my corded miter saw in places with no power would be handy and it would be great for power outages too. The 2 other things on my want list are the Ryobi vacuums you just recently showed us, which are the new stick vac and the new shop vac, which I could use to keep the place clean;-). Now I’m not expecting to win any of these, I’d just be happy having what you have laying around or just accessories to go with these if I was picked a winner. Plus I’m just excited about the whole giveaway and appreciate you having this website for us where me and others can learn about cool new gear everyday. Thanks Toolguyd rocks!

I work in a fleet, my van was sent in for repairs By mistake one Saturday in October. Usually when I’m aware of it going in I remove all my tools. But being unaware gave me no opportunity to do so. My heart was in my stomach as I frantically tried contacting my supervisor to figure out what happened. He assured me it was fine my van went in by mistake all my stuff will return with the van. But I knew he was wrong. I knew there would be tools I’d never see again my personal tools. When my van finally returned home to me it was bitter sweet. But more bitter than sweet. Everything came back except 2 items. My multimeter gator clips and my right hand (Bosch 12v impact driver with 2.0 battery. It was more than stealing just some tool. They took my right hand. I’ve felt naked on every job since. So frustrated I took to bashing the auto repair company on social media. It immediately got the attention of the owner who quickly reached out to me. He promised he would pursue, but the trail wuickly turned cold. My employer reprimanded me for the outburst but would do nothing to pursue my loss. It hurts when you lose a tool. But to have one you love stolen from you really stings for quite awhile. I have been eyeballing the replacement but with my wife expecting in April clearly not the right move at this time. With the current weather, my favorite tool is my snowblower! But other than that, I’d have to say it’s a toss-up between the drill press and M18 Fuel impact driver. They both get a lot of use. The impact driver is probably more fun, though. I just recently started buying in to the Milwaukee M18 line, and my only regret is not doing it sooner.

thank you for the chance. I would have a hard time narrowing it down to just one tool. I have found so many tools i didn’t know that existed until i found your website. A lot of special purpose tool that when you need them you really need them. One of my favorites i have had for years is my old U.S.A made popular mechanics screwdrivers. i think they were made by vermont american “the claw”. the have little cuts all across the ends of the screwdrivers. they will put out a messed up phillips screw when most of my other screwdrivers will not. both the slotted and phillips have the grooves cut into them

Don’t know if I can tell you a favorite tool because I have so many different tools but my favorite brand is Makita. They just seem a little more refined than the rest but I certainly have different brands, I buy whatever works.
My tool most used is a Makita 18v brushless impact driver. I hang doors and install hardware and almost always have it in my hand. If it’s cordless, I love it!

My preferred cordless brand would be Dewalt… mainly because that’s what o received as a gift from my father-in-law after buying our house. In general, I don’t have tons of brand loyalty at this point… came close to picking up a Milwaukee 12v or Bosch 12v kit this Christmas.

I skipped your other Giveaways as I already have most of those tools. But I have given a lot of thought about what a favorite tool means. There are just a few tools on my workbench that never get cleared away as I probably use them a dozen times every day. A vintage Stanley stubby screwdriver opens paint cans, scrapes dried glue, and grabs most every bolt and screw. A handmade bradawl with a short square blade punches screw holes, marks cut lines, and stabs my left hand from time to time. And my Lee Valley 12′ blindman’s tape measure plots out dimensions that I can read without telling me every inch where the 1/16-1/8-1/4-1/2-7/8 marks are.
So I’ll enter this surprise giveaway just so I can tell you that your website counts as one of my favorite tools too. I check it out practically every day, as much for the comments as your excellent reviews. (And I’d really like to get that laser-guided blue-tooth titanium hammer=:-)

My favorite tool would have to be my precision instruments split beam torque wrench. It’s made by one of the only american tool companies that hasn’t realized they can shift production overseas and massively cut costs while also slowly lowering quality until their brand is worthless and the execs can move on to the next company.

My favorite power tool is my table saw. I rarely use my miter saw since I got the table saw. My favorite hand tool is my Craftsman 3/8″ socket wrench that I got 35 years ago. It’s my go-to tool for any tightening/loosening tasks. The ratcheting mechanism broke last year and Sears promptly swapped out the whole wrench for a new one under its lifetime warranty.

My Milwaukee blower always leaves final positive thoughts in my customers mind,as its used to blow off their driveway before I leave.

I have to say I really love Ryobi’s Pulse driver. I know Ryobi doesn’t get the respect that the big three do, but the Pulse driver is a great tool. It really is quiet, so much so you don’t need hearing protection using it. Since I’m a DIYer, the extra second driving a lag or deck screw doesn’t bother me. I’ve dropped it from a ladder twice now, and no worse for the wear.

Favorite Tool: 19201930-ish Plomb 3/8 ratchet that I inherited from my Grandpa. It is worn – in a good way. I’ve disassembled it and cleaned/lubed it. I love putting it up to people’s ears so they can hear the clicks. I have others: Wright, Wera, Tekton, Carlyle; but I always try to use Grandpa’s first.
Cordless Power Tool: we have Milwaukee, Craftsman, Makita tools – like ’em all really. Still learning about amps vs volts vs brushless vs brands vs etc. I am in need of a “cordless power tool 101” story, BTW.
Best new tool in 2017: Stihl PS30 foldable pruning saw. For decades I have done all cutting with either chain saws or bow saws. I was shocked at how easy it is to prune limbs with a small, sharp, hand saw. Total revelation.

My favorite tool by far is my Knipex Plierswrench. I use them every day as an aircraft mechanic, I often use them to squeeze nut plate rivets.
Along with that, I use my Milwaukee m12 cordless drill every day, and it works great for getting into smaller areas. Lacks power occasionally but other than that it’s solid.

Funny, I was thinking about this very question the other day, and it took me two seconds to decide. My favorite “tool” would be my Chinex paintbrushes. Once you have one you will never want to use anything else. Applies smoothly, cleans like a dream, and keeps its form. I plan to buy them as housewarming gifts for new homeowner friends.
Every major brand carries one or more Chinex bristle brushes, so they’re relatively easy to find. They cost twice as much as the next lower quality of brushes, but you get 100 times the use.

My favorite Tool currently is the Makita XSR01Z 18V X2 (36V) LXT Cordless Lithium-Ion Brushless 7-1/4 in. Rear Handle Circular Saw. I saw the review here and went out and bought the kit it if the best saw hands down if you want a great saw then this is the one for you guys i would call it a nonbinding saw, its simply great!!!

My favorite tool is always my electric screwdriver. I repair electronic devices such as stereo equipment and classic radios and also do some woodworking. So removing screws is constant and never ending. Removing then replacing screws on a device or woodworking project can eat up countless hours without an electric screwdriver.
That leads to my favorite power tool as the entire line of Milwaukee Fuel power tools. The drills and screwdrivers are dependable and powerful. I also use the Fuel series jigsaw and circular saws for most of my woodworking projects and have never been in a situation where the two did not perform as well as my old corded saws.

Favorite tool? I would have to say my Mitutoyo digital calipers. This is a tool that I use most frequently. I have other fav brands, like Knipex and Snap On. I just love to use quality tools, even if the company sometimes outsources to China, but it depends. Makita is one of the few.

I desperately want that new Milwaukee Cordless Circular Saw. It supposedly can make over 100 cuts of a 2×10 on one battery?, I have old Dewalt 18v now and it is killing my productivity. I end up taking 5 heavy 18v batteries out and still can’t get threw a day.. It’s embarrassing and I can’t afford generator to take my corded Dewalt. With 3 kids, never enough money. Everyday I bend over backwards being nice and do anything to help others. Because I believe in Karma, I been good so maybe one I will be blessed even more and it will appear..

My favorite tool has to be my Milwaukee M12 bandsaw…I know it’s just a bandsaw but as a commercial electrician it makes the job easier. Regardless of the stock, cutting one handed is nice. Not to mention the ability to get into tighter spots to cut conduit installed can be a huge time saver. If only it was brushless and cut a little faster. It’s also very durable..It has took a few drops off of ladders and kept on cutting.

So per that rule set I’ll put in on this.
My favorite tool currently is my workbench as many of my projects need or use that bench – without it I couldn’t do some things. I love amy of my other tools like my Dewalt Impact driver – surprised I got along without one. but I did- and could do without. I love my wrenches etc – but when you need to vise down an alternator to get the pulley off you need a vise and it needs to be on a workbench.
So after much thought that’s probably my favorite tool in the garage.
Runner up – my mobile smartphone. I look up stuff all the time and having that point of use camera, internet access, magnifying glass, conversion tool etc. I use it all the time. Oh and when I have to it’s also a phone.

Picking a favorite tool is a difficult proposition with all there is to choose from… That being said, my all time possible favorite would have to be a custom router compass with full size protractor my brother and I built to lay out, and produce a nine foot radius, solid wood front reception desk. We used a Porter Cable five speed router for the cutting power, but every thing else on it was fabricated in shop. Combined materials included aluminum, steel, mahogany, and Corian, with a couple of flange bearings for the pivot point. It ended up being a wall hanger after that project and saw use on only one other job, but it was satisfying to not have to invest in something impossible to afford, at that time, to get the job completed.
While not an all time favorite, the one tool I currently use, and reach for the most, is a Makita impact driver I purchased last year. It’s just one of those items that feels right in hand. So much so, that I have attempted to use it on several occasions when I should have been choosing a much larger tool.
I would probably have to re-sort all of my current tool kit, and take a trip down memory lane to start to narrow down a list of possible favorites from over the years, but I do not believe that I could actually pick just one item as “the” favorite tool. It is always a moving target and heavily depends on the current need.

My favorite tool at the moment is the Milwaukee M12 soldering iron. I’ve been anxiously awaiting it since I first read about it here, and finally spotted it in stock around Thanksgiving (and was able to save some money with a Milwaukee % off promo at the time!) I do a lot of soldering, and this has met or exceeded my expectations all around. I knew it wouldn’t outright suck, coming from Milwaukee, but I’m impressed with how quickly it heats up and how well it retains heat. It chews through batteries, but I was fully expecting that. Works great when I need to solder a handful of wires under a dash real quick. If I’m doing more than ten wires then I’ll just drag out the extension cord and Hakko iron and not worry about the battery.

My favorite Cordless tool Is my Bosch ’12v’ Impact driver. It consistently hits above it’s weight, from driving 3″ 3/8 lag bolts to freeing rusted fasteners without stripping to quickly driving screws without stripping. In a pinch, it’s even drilled 1/2 holes with a twist bit.

My favorite tool is my 12 volt Bosch driver. I have the impact driver as well but I’ve found that I prefer the lighter weight and smaller size of the non impact version. I’ve found that most of the time it has sufficient torque without haven’t to break out an impact driver.

Currently my favorite would probably be the Ryobi 18v inflator cause there always seems to be a tire or air mattress that needs blowing up. The Wera bit set would be a close second cause it seems to have the exact bit I randomly need and quality is top notch.

My favorite tool…..this week…..is a nail file emery board.
After getting a call from a tenant that the furnace went out at 8pm in the evening just before we got another stretch of single digit temperatures, I showed up half hour later and pulled the flame sensor and cleaned it by sanding the surface with the emory board, re installed it and the furnace fired right back up.
That 25 cent emory board gave the tenant their heat back and saved an expensive service call.

Kind of makes me wonder why Milwaukee 12V never made a small trim saw. I guess the bigger 5 3/8 Fuel one is good enough and probably not enough demand for something even smaller.
