New Bosch PS11-2A Pivoting Head Right Angle Drill Driver is a Long Awaited Update

Bosch PS11-2A 12V Max RIght Angle Pivoting Head Drill DriverOne of Bosch’s first compact cordless tools was their PS10 pivoting head right angle driver. Because of this, it has been somewhat surprising that Bosch never followed up with a similarly designed tool but with a conventional drill chuck. Until now.

What you’re looking at here is the new PS11-2A pivoting head right angle drill driver. The PS11has been ergonomically designed for near effortless drilling in tight and hard to reach places. For getting the angle just right, the PS11 features a 5-position pivoting head that articulates from 90° to a straight 180°.

Looking at both tools, it appears as though the PS11 has been slimmed down a bit, and the larger trigger is most certainly a welcome change as well. Considering that the PS11 will better serve as an RA drill and the PS10 a fastener driver, we’re treating the PS11 as more of an update rather than an upgrade.

Bosch also did away with the clutch* found on the PS10, and managed to boost max torque to 101 in-lbs. The single speed gearbox operates at a variable 0-1300 RPM, and the PS11 drill driver also features an LED work light and battery fuel gauge.

The kit comes with 2 12V Max batteries and Bosch’s standard 30-minute charger.

* None of the product specs I’ve seen thus far mention an adjustable clutch of any kind, but it’s potentially possible that a switch is hidden on the back or opposite side of the tool. We’ll update you as soon as we can absolutely confirm this.

No idea, yet, but I do look forward to finding out!

BUT, I know that the Milwaukee M12 RA drill has a comparable max torque of 100 in lbs.

I went ahead and used the M12 RA drill w/ a 1-inch spade bit, and was able to bore a hole a little more than 3″ into the side of a 2×4. After that point, the tool kept shutting off due to over-current draw.

It’s tough to draw a direct comparison between tools despite comparative torque ratings since the M12 has a lower max speed.
