I suppose this was to be expected. First, Sears recently launched the standalone Craftsman.com store. Then, they reinstated a rolling Craftsman Club promo period – did you notice that the past few promos were 4-5 weeks long each?
Well, now they’ve launched a new rewards program where purchases earn you points that can be redeemed for reward coupons.

There are 3 tiers – spend $0 – $249 to earn 10 pts per dollar spent, $250-$749 to earn 15 pts per dollar, and spend $750+ to earn 20 pts per dollar. Points are cummulative, and can be redeemed for rewards vouchers – every 2500 points gets you a $5 coupon via email.
Okay, so for the first $249, you earn 2% of that value in rewards, 3% for the next $500 you spend, and 4% for any amount you spend after that.
Thus far, it looks like this is an opt-in program.
Now for my personal opinion… scrap the rewards program and bring back the printed Craftsman Club calendars. I miss the $5 off $25 and $10 off $50 in-store coupons from 2008, not to mention the extra hand tools, power tools, and tool storage specific coupons.
Not that rewards vouchers aren’t good, but we’re left to wonder and worry – what types of promotions or discounts will be or have been sacrificed in order to fund this rewards/loyalty program?

I liked the Club but never really made large purchases based on the Club so I don’t know how much of a savings this will be for me. I tend to buy tools out of need and not desire

personally, i say scrap the rewards program. is there many of us out there that will spend $250 for $5 off. i’d rather keep the cc deals continuing and discounts via the website. if they want to keep it around, i hope they continue with the cc deals, and other $5/$10 off coupons they’ve done in the past. hopefully this reward program doesn’t scrap a lot of the deals that we’ve seen. i guess this will be a wait and see for a lot of us.

This seems like any other big brand name store’s rewards program. These programs have never been much of an incentive to me, I want immediate savings, not sometime down the road savings. My gut feeling says we will no longer be seeing any of the amazing discounts that the craftsman club card used to entitle you to.

It looks like the website is not yet fully functional, so I’d suggest waiting and checking back up in a few days.
The rewards program is an optional program for existing Craftsman Club members. In order to participate, you must sign up.
Again, it does not look like registration has started yet.

I really haven’t been needing a lot of items that Sears has had on sale. It would take me a year to top out in the first level.

As others say, it is better than nothing, but I’m running out of things Sears features during the Craftsman Club sales. **Shrug** Guess that is a good thing.

I don’t buy nearly enough tools from Sears to benefit from this program. I hope the Craftsman Club fliers don’t stop though. There is usually one or two things I want/need from those each month.
I would love to see a printed flier come to my house also. When I signed up for the Craftsman Club, I got one printed flier and I haven’t gotten one since. Now I can’t even see them online it seems. (Sears website issues)

just read the FAQs, seems to be overly complicated to me. i am also to the point where everything i desire has been purchased and i buy on need now. that would prevent me from either reaching/staying at a tier. thumbs down from me
