Dewalt’s new Tstak Bluetooth radio and charger is out now (model no. DWST17510). We’ve got a test sample that I’ll be playing around with soon, but with it being designed to be a scaled-down ToughSystem radio charger (which sounds great and can handle rough and tough environments), I expect it to impress.
Tool Nut prominently featured the Dewalt Tstak radio in their latest newsletter, saying that you can save $20 off the list price right now, and that they’ve got the lowest price around, guaranteed.

Tool Nut has the Dewalt Tstak jobsite radio and charger on sale now, for $199. That’s a little lower than the $199.99 street price I can find it for elsewhere at the moment, and $20 lower than the $219 list price. Ha! (Sorry Tool Nut, I love you guys, but you had me going there for a second. But I guess that extra 99 cents savings is still 99 cents one could spend on something else.)
The Tstak music player can charge or be powered by Dewalt 12V Max, 20V Max, and FlexVolt battery packs.

But, keep in mind that the Dewalt 20V Max and Craftsman V20 cordless power tool battery systems won’t be compatible. There might be some difference between their features, but as far as I can tell, they’re identical aside from branding and the battery pack connector.
Dewalt model number is DWST17510, Craftsman model number is CMST17510. (I’m actually impressed and pleased that they did this with the model numbers.)

We have the tough system radio,hands down the loudest, biggest thump for your buck you can buy as far as jobsite radios go.
I ordered my tstak radio at acme with a 15%off coupon (frequent buyer deals they send companies) sometimes 25%..1day only……I hear it’s just as loud or close to it,but obviously more compact.
We use Tstak in the trailer,it’s a good system,wish dewalt would expand it.
Extremely aggravating that SBD put Dewalt on hold , realistically,(yes a couple new tools are out in October) to develop craftsman tools including this tstak clone radio…many of the new craftsman line is already at Lowe’s, with only a couple tools made in the USA . The circ saw and many more are all made in China,along with most hand tools……

I own the tough system dewalt and it is the loudest radio on the market for sure I used it in my friends car and we used it as the sound system i absolutely love the radio it has Bluetooth and USB ports and a little bit of storage if you’re looking for a good radio I highly recommend it and it works in the rain. I’ve never let it get completely soaked but it has gotten wet and still works

I own an older DeWalt radio and their Bluetooth speaker; the sound quality of both is atrocious. I think they lost me as far as audio equipment goes. Plus, for that price, you could buy a speaker from Bose.

DeWalt seems to be taking longer than they should to get these cordless tools out on the market…. Cordless router and cordless sander aren’t even available yet wich Makita already has available. DeWalt cordless 23 gauge nailer is non existent so far wich Makita already has… I still have original DeWalt josite radio from over 15 years ago and it still works..

Tstack is definitely more compact, slightly better internal antenna, I believe better sounding, last but not least ! Alot faster charging is the major difference.

Great shortcuts right now, to save all confusion, are as follows:
If, in the article, at any point, SBD or its umbrella brands, are held up side-by-side with the Craftsman model: It’s 99%+ positive to be from SBD. The other tiny percentage is when it is held up among a Craftsman tool that uses a different battery, in which case it is the tiny percentage chance that it is an article identifying which one is which.
If, in the article, at any point, the item in question is held up against a line of tools that all share the same battery: This is a list from a specific side of the brand, Read the ARTICLE to look for which side the lineup is from to know if it’s Sears or SBD.
If you are angry about the situation with Craftsman and SBD: You’re not alone, but, look… Don’t stir things up. We’ve been having the angry venting posts constantly, and it’s not helping anyone. So, at this point, I’d just like to say: If you are angry about the situation, just know you’re not alone, and we’re here for you. But don’t take it out on these threads. Not sure if I’m the only one, but something about the lack of battery compatibility is really bugging me.
First, I’m not a professional, but have a truly extensive collection of Craftsman hand tools (USA), and since their power tools weren’t really that good in the past 10 years I’m on the DeWalt 20v train.
This was fine until SBD aquired Craftsman and got my hopes up that I would be able to continue to build out my Craftsman collection. When they start to release common product in both lines but don’t have compatibility it really causes me a dilemma. Some things in the Craftsman cordless line (chainsaw lopper) have little chance to get release with DeWalt. And maybe I want a black and red radio charger……but wait neither will work with my existing collection of batteries or chargers.
While I do understand they are likely trying to ensure the professional tools benefit from any design/feature from the professional batteries and allow the diy tools to hit at the lower price point it seems that this choice is going to disaapont some customer.
If Mac uses DeWalt batteries and there was going to be a new line…..oh well…maybe someone will figure out an adapter.

Why can’t they work on TSTAK and ToughSystem Tire Inflators, Air Compressors, or micro dust collectors instead of Radios?
They have between 5 and 10 models of Radio or Bluetooth Speaker already. It’s way past enough already. They aren’t as big a priority as it seems, when compared to all the other tools we need on the market at this point in time. Besides, it’s 2018 already. With Streaming, WiFi, and Satellite Radio out there, why are the fuzzy, and crowded, AM and FM bands even ON radios anymore? What good is this anymore? Walk behind a concrete wall, or install a Glass Window in the room you’re in, and the radio loses its signal.
How about a Cell Signal Booster? A Comms-Radio Command Hub? I mentioned the Tire Inflator, Dust Collector, or Air Compressors already, what about something for working near Levees? Something you can inflate heavy bags with like sand bags, and wall up the work area, before switching it in reverse to pump the water out?
SO MANY ideas for TSTAK and Tough System to be more useful, and NONE of the are a RADIO!

I’m sure they make them because they sell and are probably very easy to source bulk radio/speaker parts. It’s not something they necessarily have to invent or design, and there must be some sort of demand for it.

Because AM and FM radio are reliable and often at remote works site that’s all there is. Lack of cellular service at these remote sites makes a AM & FM radio very nice to have. Plus you can plug in or use bluetooth to add internet or satellite radio receivers.
