ToolGuyd draws in readers from different backgrounds, and everyone has different reading habits. Not every regular reader visits the site every day, or even every few days. For these types of readers, it can be easy to miss out on a new tool review, preview, or deal post.
This is one reason why I created a weekly updates subscription option in our newsletter. Subscribe with the weekly updates option, and you’ll receive an email every Monday with a full list of headlines from the previous week. Subscribe to the daily option, and you’ll receive a similar email up to once a day.

Given some of the requests I’ve received over the years and how I read through the front pages of some of the sites I visit less regularly, I decided to create a MEGA list of new tool posts.
I know the name is a little cheesy, but I didn’t know what else to call it.
Check it out: the new tool posts Mega List (LINK REMOVED)
There, you will find an automatically-updated list of the 100 most recent ToolGuyd stories. Because of how it was coded, it might not pick up on posts that don’t have any images, but that’s something I hope to have fixed this week.
Hovering over an image with your mouse makes the headline text slide up. Move the mouse away and the headline will disappear. Unfortunately, this means it works a lot better on desktop and laptop computers than smartphones, tablets, and touch devices.
This Mega List page is an experiment. Do you like it? Love it? If not, don’t worry, the front page isn’t changing. The Mega List new post page is only there for those who want it.

I think its a nice addition.
It’s cool to see what one could have possibly missed of interest.

It is a cool presentation but i had to go take my ADD meds…lotta “distractions” to chase…
Stuart
The alternative would be rows, similar to the equal-sized tiles in our Maker Tool Guide, but with images being all different sizes and headlines all different lengths, something would break and look unsightly. Plus, 100 posts would take up a lot more page space.
The MEGA post list is just an optional layout for those that like it. I know it looks a little cluttered, but that was part of the goal – high density images for quick “catch-up.”
I also considered creating an infinite-scrolling page, but there are a lot of downsides to them.

don’t get me wrong – i liked it, the format and everything – i really like mousing over pictures and getting the subject – it’s a cool presentation the way everything fits together…my personal problem of ADD led me to posts i had not focused on before and that led to shopping…very distracting (in a good way)

What a great line up of power tools online, Definitely a MEGA LIST!!! Thanks…
Stuart
In your haste to post spam links, you might have completely missed the point of the mega page.

Wouldn’t load on the iPad, which is what I usually read TGD on, but I might check it out sometime when I’m on the desktop.
Stuart
I just checked on my iPad via WiFi, and it loads properly in Chrome and Safari. There are no hover effects and thus no pop-up headline text, but the images should show.
You might see a long single column of images as they load. Once the images load, they will all arrange into 4 columns.

Tried it again, and this time it worked.

I had not noticed the weekly subscription option before. That should help the OCD! Thanks!

It’s far too busy, and I don’t see the point.
Stuart
That’s why it’s an experimental and optional page, but I appreciate the feedback!

I find it hard to believe that there are people who don’t check the site daily. Although I sometimes miss a day, I enjoy the extra articles the following day. BTW any updates on when you will do the next installment of the oscillating tool blade test? I have been holding my breath. Even just a small sneak peak of your progress would be great.
Stuart
The OMT testing is underway. Part 3 will focus on analysis and conclusions and is coming soon. Part 4 will include a lot of raw data, and Part 5 will take a closer look at apparatus design and construction.
