New Porter Cable Corded & Cordless Oscillating Multi-Tools on the Horizon!

The guys at ToolboxBuzz have broken the news that Porter Cable is coming out with both corded and cordless oscillating multifunction tools! From the looks of it, the upcoming Porter Cable oscillating multi-tools will feature a tool-free blade change design.

Multi-tools are all the rage these days, and great lengths have been taken by Bosch, Dremel, and Milwaukee to offer cross-platform accessory compatibility. There are still quite a few brands that have not yet jumped on the bandwagon, but I think they’ll come around.

    Fein has one too and I hear it’s a good one…

    Fein’s Multimaster is still the cream of the crop, but is a bit too expensive for casual users.

    Our Feins are still going strong – although they do suffer a from blades (particularly the E-Cuts) that rotate a bit. Our Feins are the old style that just used a socket screw and washer (no star arbor) to hold blades in place. Since we are heavilly invested in the M12 line – for both the plumbing and carpentry/woodworking facets of our business – we just bought a couple of the M12 cordless Oscillating tools and have just put them into use within the last few weeks.

    BTW – for what its worth we would not part with our Fein Vacuums – and could probably get endorsements from clients who appreciate their quiet operation

    Stuart;

    What I did not mention is that I see the cordless and corded variety of these tools as not interchangeable with one another. With cordless drills – as an example there has been a bit of blurring in the distiction – although I know of no cordless drill that is up to handling big selfeed bits.

    With these oscillating tools – leave the sanding , tile grinding and other long duration jobs to the corded models – our Feins work well here. But for quick wood trim work – the Milwaukee cordless seems like its up to the task
