Let’s not forget the “going green” aspect of this as well. No aerosol is far better for the environment.

Years ago I bought a gallon of WD 40 that came with a hand sprayer. It was configured a bit differently, and didn’t really mimic the looks of the can, but I thought it would be more economical than buying the aerosol. That gallon lasted at least 10 years, and confirmed my feelings that in a shop setting at least, this is the way to go for those who like WD40.

That is great to hear! I just bought a Couple of cans of WD -40 with the 3 adjustment heads on them in hopes of refilling them! BUT how do I get the spray part off the Top of the Can so to re-fill each of them??? Thanks Mike

Has anyone who used one of these encountered trouble with getting the stream into tight spaces? I like the aerosols with the extension nozzles because I can get the nozzle into tight spots and blast the fastener…seems that with this design that precision would not be there?

Bull, the new spray does have a “stream” mode that’s designed to mirror the functionality of the extension straw. Thus far we have not yet come across any hands-on evaluations or feedback regarding whether the stream is as effective as the straw.
We do share you sentiment, though – the benefit of a red extension straw shouldn’t be taken lightly. A dripless stream is a great feature, but it cannot be bent around obstacles.

this is the first time I’ve seen this. The can looks about the same diameter, so if the nozzle can accommodate a straw, a straw holder should solve the problem.

There are four teeth that lock the threaded cap on. You’ll have to destroy the cap to get it off and replace the entire spray head if you wish to reuse the bottle. You can get the replacements for under a dollar at most hardware stores or WalMart.
You can thank the Poison Prevention Packaging Act and Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act for this. WD-40 contains more than 10% petroleum distillates and thus requires a child resistant container for the non-aerosol products.
I can maybe see why this particular can requires it, but what really bugs me is that the EMPTY WD-40 branded spray bottles have it as well. Right at the top of the bottle is a large notice telling you not to tighten the cap until the bottle is filled, because the bottle cannot be reopened once the cap is on. It completely defeats the purpose of getting a gallon of WD-40 and a refillable spray bottle.

WD-40 makes empty spray bottles that can be refilled with bulk WD-40 liquid.

Cut the smooth collar off of the bottom of the appeared screw off cap. And the cap will then screw off and on and is indeed reusable buddy.

Found out its not reusable. Was NOT satisfied with this!
So take a razor blade cut of the smooth collar around the bottom of appeared screw off cap and BOOM! cap screws on and off and is most certainly reusable fellas.
