Olight kicked off a new flashlight sale this week, featuring discounts and bundle deals on a selection of personal lighting gear.
The new Olight sale includes a number of new products, and the others are new-to-me.
The company sent over test samples of all of them, and so I’ll include early hands-on review commentary in the rundown.

Olight Baton Turbo EDC Light

The Olight Baton Turbo takes the Baton-series compact everyday carry LED flashlight to the next level, with 1,000 lumen max output.
It’s powered by a larger 18350-sized battery, and also comes with a sleeve that allows the flashlight to be powered by CR123A lithium batteries, albeit with lower output.
This is my favorite of the series – it delivers appreciably more than my much-loved Baton 4 flashlights (and its predecessors), but without feeling much larger.
Sometimes I carry a smaller Baton flashlight with me, but a lot of the time they’re in a bag, magnetically attached to a cabinet, or on a workbench. I think the new Turbo is going to fit right into my typical usage habits.
It’s available in black and green as part of the sale.
I’ve been sold on the metal pushbutton that Olight has built into an increasing number of flashlights.

Olight Sphere Ambient Light

The Sphere reminds me of Olight’s Obulbs.
It’s a colorful ambient light with multiple output modes. There’s also an app that allows for remote control, group lighting controls, countdown timers, music sync, and also a Bash-A-Mole game.
I haven’t tried the app yet, but when standalone, it’s a good fidget light, like the Obulbs before it.
Olight Perun 3 Right Angle Light and Headlamp

The Perun 3 feels like a complete redesign compared to the preceding models I’ve tested in the past.
The power button is metal and moved to the side, which will take me some time to get used to. Olight also gave the headlamp strap a stainless steel clip.
I like that the red light can be activated with a double-press of the power button.
I’ve used various Perun-series flashlights as floodlights and magnetic worklights before, and am likely to do the same with this one.
Although the Perun is sold as a headlamp, I consider it a handheld flashlight due to its size and weight.
Olight Arkfeld Pro

Olight has a special “Paw Edition” of the Arkfeld Pro, with donations going to various cat and dog partner organizations.
The Arkfeld Pro has a flat/rectangular form factor, with a built-in battery that can be recharged with the same magnetic tailcap charger that works with most Olight flashlights.
It has a UV light, green laser, and 1300 lumen main LED flashlight.
The green laser and white light can operate at the same time – you switch to the laser and then double-press the power button to turn the light on.
Olight Arkfeld Ultra

The Arkfeld Ultra is similar to the Pro, but with a slightly brighter white light and “O-Aluminum” housing that is said to be “twice as hard as standard 6061 Al alloy.”
Basically, it has an upgraded housing that’s advertised as being stronger and more wear-resistant.
Olight Fall Sale Details
The sale ends at 11:59pm ET on 9/20/2024.
If you miss this promo, there will likely be another one next month, and with a different selection of flashlights on sale.

I have a few of their lights, they’re decent. If you have the app and are signed in being a level silver and above you can get the sphere light for free.

First sale ever where I can’t add an i3e to my collection for $5. Hesitant to download app to get the sphere.
What are the dimensions of the sphere, could not find listed on the product page but it looks like 2-3″ in some of the photos.
Stuart
A little less than 2.5″ wide and little more than 2″ tall – around 2.35″ x 2.1″ or so.
Lance
Download our app get this free thing = we can sell your data for more than the light costs us. Nothing is free.
Scott F
That’s my hesitation! Not that I don’t already have 100 OTHER apps doing the same, what’s another?
But they saved me from worrying about it – the sphere appeared in my browser cart and I just checked out, no app required. Not sure if it’s a bug, or they planned to open it up to browser orders today..

Sorry, I still can’t trust olight for as many that have failed at local shop and the reports of battery explosions. Maybe as something you give to your nephew for cheap Christmas present, but nothing I’d want to have to rely on.
Stuart
I only heard about one incident, and if I recall correctly it had to do with user error and replacement batteries.

I -think- the Arkfield Pro has a glass lens as opposed to the plastic that was melting when users left them on high too long. I don’t have an Arkfield but I could see that as being a significant upgrade.
S
Unfortunately, the arkfeld pro doesn’t have a glass lens. The only difference is the green laser and UV light being included.
Mine got over sprayed with brake cleaner after a particularly messy excursion of “find the leak” in a hydraulic system, and I now have a semi-frosted lens.
It was news to me too-all my other $60+ flashlights always include a sapphire lens to justify the higher price point, so I didn’t even think twice about it being within range of the brake cleaner.
Rob H
Apologies, I meant the ultra. The pro has been out a while now. I’m sorry your lens got melted. I don’t understand some of the choices olight makes in terms of material. A couple of my lights have a greenish hue to the light output and I don’t care for that. It’s common enough that I wonder why they keep using the LEDs that they do.

I have two Obulb’s, one Pro, one not. The Pro one decided the battery was too low and wouldn’t charge anymore. So note to self: do not leave them on until they run out or the magnetic charger wouldn’t work.
Out of warranty. Got it working again by putting 5v on it, negative to the center pin, positive to one of the three outer pins.
I find most of the items they sell to have some nice features but not worth it for my use case. The Obulbs are an exception. Waterproof enough that I use them as in my pool for ambiance, magnetic base, not so bright they blind you but bright enough to make for good task lighting and perfect for power outages. I’ve considered the Sphere but I am not a big fan of pointless app control.
Stuart
You don’t have to use the app – I still haven’t. You can press down on it to change modes.
John Blair
I missed the line “I haven’t tried the app yet, but when standalone, it’s a good fidget light, like the Obulbs before it.” That does make it more interesting to me.
Since I just got the Obulb Pro working again by jump starting the battery, I kept feeling like the light wasn’t as bright as it used to be. Wondered if I had damaged it. Turned out, I had to use the App to take it above 10% power level the first time.
How is the brightness on the Sphere in comparison to the old basic and pro models?
Stuart
I haven’t compared the two yet. I might still have an Obulb somewhere – I’ll have to dig it up.
The Sphere feels brighter, but I’ll have to check. I also haven’t looked at the specs. It has an interesting construction – diffuse dome within a clear dome.
DC
I have several and the Baton and Perun (Perun 2 specifically), are the most useful for my needs. I like the idea of a metal power button to increase its durability. The Olight flashlights seem to me at least to be more reliable and better quality than many of their competitors. The Arkfields may be added to my collection in the future but I want them to have a little more power.
Adam
Thanks for the heads-up about the sale, I’ve always been pleased with my Olights over the years, and picked up an Arkfeld Ultra & Warrior Nano combo for a healthy discount (including free engraving on the Arkfeld, so maybe I’ll get a phone call if I misplace it).
Don Julio
In addition the sale prices above, there are 30% – 40% DIY bundles available with plenty of interesting options.

People hate on O-light but I’ve never had a problem. Charging is convicent won’t you have a few changers where you might need them. Not that I’ve every drained one in one time, but easy enough to toss on to charge. I’ve done more Surefire warranty replacements than I have O-light. Love the orbs. Carry a pair in my suitcase while traveling. Great night lights, fun to toss in the tub or spa with the kids, useful little magnet light around the house.
Derek
There’s a lot of Olight hate. Mostly for their WMLs. The handheld lights are ok, used to be better.
Decent lights for muggles, simple UI and magnetic charging is handy. Their marketing preys on that.
They will burn you though, most any light with a TIR optic can.
That said, there are numerous better options that are less expensive, better tint and CRI and use standard non-proprietary cells.
