In yesterday’s post about the new Porter Cable PCC771B Bluetooth jobsite radio, I offered a few alternatives for readers that might be looking for something a little smaller.
I had no size or scale reference of the radio, and hadn’t requested a sample yet, and so I had a mental image of its size based on how big I thought it would be.

Well… that mental image was wrong.
The friendly folks at Porter Cable sent me another image, this one showing the new radio next to an iPhone. Judging from this new photo, the radio is a lot smaller than I thought it was.
I ordinarily would have just updated the original post, but seeing this new image completely changed the way I think about this product. It looks to be about the same scale as the new Dewalt Bluetooth speaker, but with the addition of an AM/FM tuner. Raises the appeal, in my opinion, hence the separate update post.
Also, MSRP is $100. Amazon’s $120 pricing is inflated, probably because the radio’s not in stock yet.
What do you think, does this image show the radio’s scale change its appeal for you? For the better or worse?

Which IPhone? If it’s a 6 in the picture then the radio is standard size compared to the desalts radios

Considering the iPhone 6plus is big enough to eat any other phone to ever exist…..this radio is rather large…lol

Good to see that these jobsite style radios are coming out in smaller sizes. The larger ones are about the size of a portable compressor.

Ok, first off this radio looks promising as Bluetooth is a must for me and I have already got a few PC 20v Max tools and I am very satisfied with them. But there are a few statistics that I can’t find about it. Trust me l have looked, even went as far as to send PC an E-mail but haven’t gotten a response back? Maybe you will have better luck at finding the answers.
1.) It says that it is durable but to what extent does that mean? i.e. is it water proof? How shock resistant is it what happens if you accidentally drop it two stories? I know you probably can’t you drive a tank over it but will it survive the jobsite especially if you work with RETARDS?
2.) How loud is it? Is it a “jobsite” radio, or a personal jobsite radio which means that I am going to have to move it every time I do as you can’t hear it from more than 30 feet away. I am having to deal with that right now and it is fairly irritating.
3.) Last but certainly not least, it says that it has clear sound but I can’t for the life of me find what the sound frequency range is. Good clear sound at any volume is very important to me at.

Ive played with it we got two in and then they got recalled for the clock. The new shipments are due to arrive any day. The sound quality is good. the only drawback I can see is that it does not charge the battery when plugged in. It does put out the volume. I started walking with my phone and at about 300 ft the signal started to crackle a bit. Toughness the surround handle is a flexible plastic. I could take a few drops. hope this helped.
