I’ve received a few requests for a Ridgid Black Friday tool deal roundup, similar to what I did last year, and it seemed like a good idea. But for this year, I cast a wider net and included all of the deals I could find or already know about, rather than simply focusing on the better ones.

Ridgid Shop Vacuum for $40
Ridgid is playing things close to their chest this year, but I am fairly certain that their deal will be the same as last year’s – the WD1636 vac package for $40.
Update: This year’s model, WD1640, is slightly different than last year’s. The specs look to be identical. The new vac looks different, with the inlet being in the dust container rather than the motor housing. The drain is a little different too. I cannot tell what the other differences might be.

These are older X4 models that aren’t as powerful as the new Gen5X kit, just above. So what’s more important to you, more power (at least on paper) or an extra $20 in your wallet?
If you ask me, Milwaukee’s kit is a better buy for the same money, but that’s because I like the breadth of Milwaukee’s M18 lineup better than Ridgid’s 18V lineup. Ridgid Trim Router with Free 1/4 Sheet Sander for $99
I posted again about this deal a few weeks ago, and was surprised to hear complaints about the sander. I’ve had great experiences with my Ridgid random orbital sander, and would assume that the 1/4 sheet sander was built to the same standards.

This Ridgid miter saw stand, which seems to be hugely popular, is currently on sale for $149, but we expect it to drop down to $99 for Black Friday. That’s what happened last year, and its inclusion in Home Depot’s gift center suggests the same will happen this year.
Going by the user reviews, I think this is the best miter saw stand you can find for under $100.

I had never tested this model, and it always seems to disappear from stores and everyone’s attention until the holiday season rolls around.
There are plenty of reviews, a great many of them positive.
This saw’s unique in how it has roller wheels and a handle built into the base, for easier transport.
Personally, I’d spend a little more and go with a Dewalt portable table saw, but the money saved can give you a head start on saving for your next saw or tool purchase, or buy a great blade or two.

This deal comes around every holiday season. Home Depot didn’t confirm it for this year yet, but it’s all but guaranteed.
Check out our review of the Ridgid Pro tool boxes. I do prefer Dewalt Tough System tool boxes, but bought a couple more of Ridgid’s over the years since my initial buy. They offer good bang for the buck.
Wait until Thanksgiving of Black Friday to see if the deal’s gone live, or head to your local HD.

Ridgid Tile Saw for $100
The R4020, one more deal from the PRO Black Friday sale, is on sale for $100.
You might still want to buy or rent a bigger and better saw for regular use, or even the occasional big project, but this saw should handle some smaller jobs reasonably well. The reviews seem to be mostly positive, but there are some complaints mixed in that you’ll want to read.

My local HD (Provo, UT area) still has a bunch (maybe 5?) of the Ridgid gen5x brushless 18V 7 1/4″ Miter saw kits for $199, the ones that came out at $399 in August. Just an FYI.

So no deals involving the Stealth Force driver? Anything on Milwaukee’s version? I need to try those out in person. That type of driver is going to be what gets me into 18v tools.

The Ridgid is often on display with screws to drive in at HD. I can’t say was overly impressed with it. My typical impact is either a M12 Fuel or M18 Fuel. I didn’t think it was that much quieter. From comparison videos (to regular M18), the M18 Surge looks to do a better job.

I’ve been thinking about getting the Ridgid 12″ dual compound sliding miter saw. But a considerable number of the reviews mention issues with blade wobble / arbor runout. Makes me really hesitant to try it.

I’ve been looking at the 12″ non slider, but hesitant as well based on the reviews.
I want a standard 12″ because my sliding 10″ is a pain to haul to job sites. It’s really hard to find a dual bevel fixed 12″, which this ridgid happens to be, reputation just seems questionable

The Rigid Mobile Miter Saw Stand (AC9945) that will drop to $99 on BF, its possibly being phased out (speculation only).
I considered picking up the AC9945 to price match later in the day on BF, but saw the newer model (AC9946) with wider12″ wheels at the same price as the AC9945 for $149 it beefier and sturdy (IMHO). I bought it instead. So something to consider.

Thanks, It was still an awesome deal with the larger wheels at $149 but at $89 its even more awesome, since it is not a “Special Buy” if your a Veteran you can price match plus 10% YMMV depending on the cashier, I do know that the computer will normally not take off the “Military Appreciation disc” on SB, and some “new lower price” items. But Lowe’s (again ymmv depending on store cashier/Mgr) the computer will take off the Military appreciation.

Stuart, do you consider Ridgid’s R4513 table saw w/ wheeled stand to be a great deal? My local HD may have it mis priced but it’s already down to $299 (BF rumor). I am a beginning hobby woodworker and will leave it in garage (the vast majority of the time collecting dust). Eventually building a morkbench to incorporate saw (Paulk type) so would getting Ridgid’s R4513 be a silly move when they have a smaller one without stand $100 cheaper or for the same as Ridgid’s R4513 a Dewalt / Bosch without stand. Well, how long is eventually?
If your project is to build a workbench to incorporate a saw, then you would be better off spending the money on a saw, instead of a stand. Dewalt’s DW745 is one to consider.
With that smaller Ridgid saw, part of the cost goes into the extending handle and wheels, as with this model. If you don’t foresee needing those features, it would also be better to look at a saw-only model, where the cost is more distributed on the features you do plan to use.
How many projects do you have on your wishlist, or is that workstand build your first?
If it’ll be a while before you build a table saw workstand, the Ridgid R4513 offers strong bang for the buck, and the roller stand will be convenient for keeping the saw at working height, and for moving it out of the way should you need more room for a different project.
It’s a tough call.
As a beginner woodworker, you probably have a lot of other tools on your shopping list. But on the other hand, you’re probably interested in buying once and not having to upgrade for a long time if at all.
If you’re being honest with yourself and have near-future plans to build a table saw workstand, then you might want to strongly consider focusing on a saw that doesn’t come with a stand or any other mobility features.
You should also set some money aside for a better quality blade.

Thank you for the insightful reply. Table saw workstand is not next on list (8’x4′ shed first to free up room in garage). I need to spend some time thinking about what projects I want to tackle and when as you mentioned that will help me see if rolling stand is right for me or more compact model (with $ put into features other than stand). You’re right that my tool wish list is fairly lengthy and I would prefer to buy once. Diablo blades with high tooth count will be purchased (have smaller ones on my corded and cordless circular saws). Thanks again

This time of year can be particularly difficult for purchasing decisions, as we all seem to gravitate towards bigger deals and better bargains. That’s not to say that that’s the wrong way to go, but it’s best to take a step back sometimes.
The Ridgid does offer great bang for the buck. It’s not much more than the Dewalt, and so you might not feel very guilty if you stop using the stand at some point.
I hadn’t tested or used their 2 holiday sale saws, but the reviews seem to be positive.
Bosch’s GTS1031 is another saw to consider, because it packs away so nicely. I do prefer Dewalt’s fence.

Stuart, I went with the Ridgid R4513. It has minor issues: plastic frame cracked, throat plate does not sit flat (bent issue rather than set screw issue), throat plate magnet came off (since super glued in), table top reasonable flat after adjustments but a few casting nubs stick up (eventually will grind / chisel off), fence has a stripped hex head screw (luckily alignment is about as good as I can get it), blade angle still has play when locked in with a bit of pressure (the alternate is tighten a nut on the back of saw but at some point it makes it really difficult to lock and doesn’t hold angle perfectly anyway), stand can’t be leveled perfectly (wing nuts for adjusting aren’t capable of lowering anymore). Despite these initial flaws, I am planning on keeping it assuming it holds up thru the return period. Given the price point ($300) and features (rolling stand may as well be ‘gravity rise’, fence seems to be excellent at locking down, power, miter gauge acceptable, dust collection effectiveness) I feel it’s a great saw for my situation. I looked at my project list and a work stand is not high enough on the list to forgo the rolling stand. This seemed to be the right “bang for my buck” table saw. Thanks again for your insights, quick replies, and this site in general.

Have you taken a look at the delta 36-6022 that HD is offering for $229? Seems pretty decent. Has some of the features of dewalts’s fence (rails slide with the fence, locking cam lever), plus it includes a rolling stand and a 5 year warranty. I’m curious if you see any glaring issues with it.

Someone asked about it in an email, and my search for information mainly turned up marketing mainly focused on its being a Black Friday and holiday special.
Personally, I’d rather spend a little more on a tried and true model.
