Ridgid Brushless Miter Saw is Already on Clearance at Some HDs

Ridgid 18V Cordless Brushless Sliding Miter Saw

The Ridgid 18V brushless cordless miter saw, yes, the one that just came out, is already on clearance at certain Home Depot locations. You can still buy it online, but it seems that perhaps Home Depot wants the shelf space for something else.

Oleg wrote in – thanks, Oleg! – letting us know that he was able to pick up the Ridgid brushless miter saw kit for $199 at an HD in Brooklyn.

The saw isn’t on clearance at my local store, so it might only being deeply discounted regionally or on a store-by-store basis.

It’s NOT being discontinued.

The kit, R48607K, which comes with a charger and 5Ah battery pack, is currently $349 online. I’d swear it was $299 when I checked the price before the weekend. Still, neither comes close to the $199 that Oleg was able to find it for.

Buy Now(via Home Depot)

Looking for a cordless miter saw but aren’t sure about buying into Ridgid’s lineup? Dewalt’s 20V Max cordless miter saw is a great model, and at just $349 for the kit, it’s not any more than the Ridgid right now. The Dewalt kit comes with a 4Ah battery pack.

I haven’t tested the Ridgid saw yet. I’ve used the Dewalt, and it’s a dream. I initially boo-hooed that it wasn’t engineered with a brushless motor, but it performs just fine. It’s equipped with a 7-1/4″ blade.

If you want something bigger or higher performing, the Dewalt FlexVolt hybrid-powered 120V Max cordless brushless miter saw is quite possibly the best miter saw on the market, corded or cordless.

Ouch. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see if this is widespread, or if the clearance hits the internet, but it’s not a good sign for Ridgid.

It’s not going to hit the internet. The clearance is only in-store. Or it might be some kind of crazy aggressive holiday pricing scheme.

Not expecting it to, but if it does, that says a lot about how it performed in the market.

I think there making space for the new 18v 10 in dual bevel Ridgid miter saw with two batteries that might be coming . I forgot the name of the guy on Instagram that has it but basically it’s like Makita 2x batteries saw except ridgids runs them in parallel so you only benefit in longer run time from the two batteries

Ridgid has stated on Instragram that this is a deliberate price drop and should be rolling out across the US for Home Depot in store pricing.

I have been checking my local stores but all are still at the $299 price point. This is a fantastic dual bevel cordless saw at the $199 price point.

I was told otherwise. This isn’t just a sale.

If these won’t be restocked in some stores, a deliberate price reduction is still a clearance.

Gotcha, I am sure you have better feelers than I for these type of details.

Either way, the people that are able to pick these up for $199 are getting a smokin’ deal. Even at $299 it is a decent deal.

I know its not a slider but its hard to argue with Ryobis $99 tool only price point.

I have that one as well… it cuts great. once i put a diablo blade on there it cut even better! Great saw for a 2×4 or anything smaller. I do wish it was a slider though… not that i NEED it but you know… you dont NEED power windows but they sure are nice to have and kinda irk you if you dont have them lol.

It’s certainly appealing as I’m in the market for a miter saw, but I’m just not feeling the 7.25″ blade…good deal but I’d prefer a 10 or 12″.

Just snagged one for $199 at HD in Anaheim. Having 2 saws already, had to think long and hard before grabbing it. Took a few trips around the store. What sold me was the weight of the box. I could hold the box by the strap in one hand and carry it without too much effort. This is truly a portable saw, batteries and all. From what I can tell they one more in stock.

I wouldn’t mind picking one up and sell my Dewalt 20v saw. Did Oleg say which Home Depot in Brooklyn he picked it up from?

I was in three Brooklyn Home Depot’s today. I didn’t see this saw anywhere, but I wasn’t looking for it either.

    DO A PRICE CHECK!!!!!
What I have found is that sometimes items don’t have that “yellow” sticker on it, yet when you scan the bar code, it could come up cheaper….

This was in Farmington NM also. Signed as an NLP = New Lower Price. Basically even HD doesn’t know what NLP really is; sometimes it’s a long-term price reduction (which the name implies IMO), sometimes it’s a short term thing (I call that a “sale price” but what do I know?), and sometimes items vanish after NLP (I call that clearance or close-out).

IOW you have to speak HomeDepotese AND be clairvoyant in these circumstances.

thanks for the followup Stuart, that gives me hope. It’s just odd that they have also removed the description of the R48607K from their website. As long as it’s not discontinued, I will keep an eye out for it on special buys when home depot usually sells special Ridgid items. Otherwise, if I knew it was discontinued for sure, I’d buy another cordless miter brand like Milwaukee, etc.. For now I’ll slug along on my corded model.

Great saw, by the way. I have put it to good use since buying it in 2016. Pleasure to use for the right jobs (upstairs 3rd floor installs, trim outs, etc). Easy to carry and works well, 5amp battery lasts forever. Like my Dewalts, but this is light and maneuverable and paired with a Portamate PM-4000 stand … perfect for the right situation. Anyone know why they discontinued these saws?

I have to say I am mystified and a little concerned to see that Ridgid introduced this tool and then obsoleted it. I bought when it first came out and have used it on job sites for everything, but mostly molding and trim work. It is a fantastic tool, still working perfectly and with the same precision as when new. Would be dismayed if it ever broke down and couldn’t be repaired or replaced. It just doesn’t make sense why to discontinue a tool like this.

I agree, I wish someone from Ridgid would explain why they discontinued a popular tool. there was a short window in 2016 & half of 2017 where it was available in Home depot, then it went on clearance, then disappeared completely. you can’t even find product info for it on Ridgid’s website, for example if you own one and want to look at the specs.
