Ridgid cordless brushless router kit with battery and charger

Over at Home Depot, they have discounted this Ridgid 18V cordless router kit to just $119.

The last time we posted about a deal on the Ridgid brushless router kit was back in 2017, when this special buy was priced at $129.

Features & Specs

  • Brushless motor
  • Variable speed dial
  • 17,000 to 25,000 RPM
  • Micro-adjust dial for depth adjustment
  • Soft start to prevent work surface gouging
  • Quick release lever for motor removal from base
  • LED worklight

The bundle comes with the router, a charger, and 2.0Ah battery.

The bare tool comes with an edge guide, a starter router bit, and a tool bag. All the signs point to these things being included in the kit as well, but Home Depot doesn’t explicitly list them in the product description or contents.

Here’s our preview post of the router for additional discussion. The router has been out for a while now, and so there are also plenty of user reviews.

Buy Now (Router Kit via Home Depot)
Compare (Bare Tool via Home Depot)

Deal ends 6/9/19 unless supplies sell out sooner.

Maybe they’re making room for the new Octane model. It isn’t very aggressive pricing though. Ive had this router since it came out. It’s been a very nice little trim router and hasnt given me any trouble. I recently purchased the Octane grinder and circular saw after having had the Brushless models for a while. I can’t say I’m terribly impressed with the performance upgrade. Not that there’s anything wrong with either one, it’s just that if you already own the previous model of either one, it’s probably not worth it.

I have this router and like it. I also have the makita cordless router and prefer the Ridgi in terms of handling and adjustment, and I’m a big Makita fan The Makita has an optional plunge base, which the Ridgid doesn’t.

I have the corded one, and love it for round overs, small flush trimming, …

I would not mind a discounted bare tool cordless version.

Funny thing, this IS the same price as the bare tool router, but includes the battery and charger “starter kit”.

I realize you may not need another edge guide and roundover bit, but they’re at least much better than the usual, 1 screw retention ones. No bag in the kit when I got it (last time)…just a brown cardboard box.

You’re right … extra battery and backup charger … may have to add to cart.

What do you think of the ryobi $99 (2) 3ah batteries and router promotion? I’m a DeWalt and Milwaukee guy, but I would only be using a cordless router for laminate and an occasional round over… Not super impressed by Ryobi in the past, though $99 for two batteries and a router compared to $170 for the bare DeWalt…

To me, it looks identical to the corded Ridgid. If I did not have a corded one, might have picked it up, went with the cordless planer instead. ( tools, wishlists, needs, budget … )

I have it — packs plenty of power, especially for a cordless, compact, brushed router. I’ve got a good size Ryobi set, but only had smaller 1.5Ah and 1.3Ah batteries, so I was really looking for the 3 Ah batteries, which are way more useful for my Ryobi circular and recip saws than what I had before. The router was a bonus which I really like, but probably would not have bought right now if not for the promo.

It’s a very similar design to the Ridgid — if I had other Ridgid tools, or if I envisioned getting a number of them, I’d get the Ridgid router combo kit over the Ryobi because it’s brushless, and more importantly it comes with the edge guide. The Ryobi router does not come with one, although it has holes for one. I got the ridgid edge guide based on some comments on the HD website — it fits the holes, but it doesn’t sit flush with the Ryobi router base. Getting the edge guide, even with one less battery, seems worth it for an extra 20 bucks.

If the edge guide does not matter to you, or if you really need the Ryobi batteries more, go with the Ryobi promo. It’s very similar in power, and cheaper.

One more thing — the Ridgid has a variable speed control. The Ryobi has one speed. If concern is more with the tool, the Ridgid seems to offer more bang for not that much more buck.
