Sweet Savings on a Ridgid Pro Toolbox Combo

Ridgid Pro Tool Box Stack

Over at Home Depot, they have a great deal going on right now where you save some money on Ridgid’s Pro tool box combo. I reviewed all of the Ridgid Pro tool organizers, and have great things to say about them! A word of warning about the review – the nearly 40 images in that post takes a couple of seconds to load if you’re on a smartphone or tablet.

Daniel wrote in, explaining how to get in on the deal. John and Paul also wrote in about it previously, but I couldn’t find a listing for the combo. Thanks guys for the deal tips!

Basically, if you buy the bottom rolling tool box and the large tool box, you get the smaller tool box/organizer for free. There’s no listing for the combo, the promo is activated when you buy each of the 3 sized tool boxes.

Separately, the tool boxes add up to $127. But with this promo, Home Depot knocks $29 off the price – the cost of the smaller Pro Organizer – for a final price of $98.

I was told that the in-store price is $99. $98 or $99, you’re still getting a great deal!

In order to see the sale price for the combo, you have to add (1) of each size tool box to your cart. Follow the link below, or head into your local Home Depot if you want to buy it in person.

My local store is reporting 4 to 10 of each size in stock, but there were no combos left in the in-store display area when I checked, and so ordering online for in-store pickup or free home shipping might be a better option. Maybe the other tool boxes are on a high-up shelf still in their shipping boxes.

Here’s a link to the review again in case you want to know most of what there’s to know about these Ridgid Pro tool boxes.

Buy Now(via Home Depot)

It’s unknown as to when the promo offer ends, but I’m guessing on or before Father’s Day, unless supplies run out sooner. And no, the Pro Tube tool box isn’t included in the promo.

    Dear ToolGuyd

Just want to say thanks for ur website. Went to Home Depot as soon as I read about the of the Ridgid tool boxes. Was told by the tool salesman that although that was a good price he had never heard of that sale. I showed him on my phone the article on ur site. He said they did not honor website articles. I told him that I was not asking him to honor the article but this site is legit and has been right before. He said oh well maybe it will be on sale next week for fathers day but I would have to pay full price for now. I walked away with head in hand and about 100 feet out of the tool section, near the sinks there was a poster showing the stacked tool boxes on sale for $98, (haha) I re contacted the sale person and he said why would they put the sign so faraway from the tools section. (Like I would know) Anyway, knowing there would be difficulties at checkout I took a pic of the sign and went back to the tool section and picked out my tool boxes. At checkout the attendant was confuse. (My pic vs the scanner price did not match) With the mangers assistance he had scan a barcode located at the cash register then scan the product and that is how you get the sale price.

Again I wanted to say thanks for the article.

You’re welcome, glad it worked out for you in the end! I have a Home Depot Pro Counter flyer around here somewhere. If I can find a flyer or circular mention of the deal I’ll scan it for easier in-store pointing-to.

I picked mine up that afternoon Stu, the girl almost only charged me $39 dollars for the whole stack because she only found one barcode. But I could not in good conscience let her do that lol so i showed her where to scan and then she had to call someone to find out how to scan the sale in. The sale is good until 6/24 I believe the sign said and i am thinking of getting another one already and still haven’t taken the other one out of my truck yet.

    Stuart,

THANKS! I’m on HD Pro’s email list and they had a similar deal a few weeks ago. Saw the deal at lunchtime, but didn’t want to order at work. By the time I had logged on when I got home, they were out of stock (delivery from a central warehouse only). I signed up to be notified, but hadn’t heard back. I ordered it this afternoon to pick up in store, and I think I got one of the last sets in stock. The discount was applied automatically. Appears to be a great set. Only thing I noticed was that there was a strong odor coming from the two smaller boxes, but that can be overcome by letting them air out.

I noticed the horrible smell as well. It’s horrendous. My car smells like em now. Lol. It’ll go away with an air freshener. I’m throwing a drier sheet in mine.

Oh yea, these DEFINITELY need to be opened and let outside a little bit to air out. Because they’re so well sealed, there’s not much opportunity for them to outgas until you get them home or to the workplace.

I was going to mention the same thing about the smell. Ugh. But once they air out, they’re great. I like the Milwaukee job boxes, but these are great as well.

Thank you Stuart. I ordered via online and picked them up at my local store…A good deal. I hence started to clean up my back garage and loaded this thing up. I have way too many tool boxes, but this one makes it easy to transport the big items.

Did these go on sale during black Friday?

Discount isn’t bad, but 30% off isn’t enough to make me spend frivolously.

went and got a set yesterday and they still had the promo deal. Lady initially charged me just for the roller one because she thought it was all one piece but like one poster already mentioned.. Just couldn’t do it so I told her they were separate units. Seems sturdy enough. My only concern is the telescopic handle.. Like any other telescopic handles, they tend to break way before any other parts.

Stuart, I’d be interested in hearing about any deals on this around the holidays. I think it could be what I need for organizing mobile tools.

    Thanks!

I’ve got my eyes peeled and on the lookout for deals.

The HD stores nearest to me still has snow throwers, lawn mowers, and grills in their seasonal areas, as they didn’t put their promo displays up yet.

I haven’t seen a stockpile of these anywhere in my local store or on top shelves. In other words, there’s no obvious deal… yet.

    A couple of months later….

I just bought a couple of the small Ridgid cases to check out the system (via mail order) and decided to take them back. They seem well enough made, but the chemical outgassing was enough to knock a buzzard off a s*** wagon.

This is going to sound like a weird question, but do any of these storage systems have a reasonable output of poison? The last thing I need is taste a bit of Keter Goodness(tm) in the back of my mouth for a day or two every time I touch this stuff.

You should wash your hands after use. I believe mine came with a “State of California” contents warning, meaning that some soft rubbery or plastic component might have lead in it.

I believe the outgassing is because the products are closed after production and assembly, sealing in the chemicals. They *should* dissipate if left open and outside for some time. It’s probably similar to how a new vinyl shower curtain will usually smell for a day or three.

I looked at the warning and it seems more general than just lead. I guess that the ingredients list is a trade secret so they aren’t required to actually list what things are made of. Alternately, the ingredients have such long names that they don’t fit on a tag.

In the meantime, if I start growing a third eye or have an out of the ordinary amount of breast enlargement, I’ll drop a line. Actually driving to Home Depot is going to be a hassle, but well worth it in this case.

This is an older deal post, but I stopped by my local HD this week, and they have a display with a full stack set up. It’s at full price right now, but might go on sale later in the holiday season.

It is several years later and found this post searching for a solution to the smell. It is 2017/18 (Winter Holidays). Home Depot had the Rigid 3-stack on sale for $99. Really like these boxes. They are robust, sealed, and easy to stack. They hold tools perfectly and keep them dry so they don’t rust.

When I got it home, I let it air out for almost a week. Then shut the lid for 24 hours. After opening again, the smell almost knocked me over. I really liked these boxes and was not going to give up on them. So for weeks I thought how I could fix the smell with the limited area I have and the extreme cold outside. If it was summer, would have tried some other ideas.

This is my solution, but it has draw-backs.

Used a floor wax “Pledge Floor Care”. Has a apple like smell and coated the inside quick and easy. I sprayed some in each little section and used a rugged paper towel folded 4 times as a sponge to wipe it around. (make sure you wear some disposable gloves … it is messy) Twenty minutes sitting time and done. But, I did wait about 3 hours to insure it was cured enough to work with. I closed the one test box I was using for several days. Upon opening the box, it still had the nice apple scent. The reason it does not smell is it coats and seals the nasty gassifying smell inside.

Note: Any acidic or detergent will re-liquefy the wax and causes a mess. If that happens, wash it off and clean it the best you can and re-apply the wax. The liquid wax has a solvent in it that will re-liquefy the already applied wax and fix the mess. I had that happen once so far. You will see the white flaky wax re-apply itself to the box.

My next test in the summer will be to try Plastic Dip and apply inside to see if that helps. Just not sure if it is going to smell better or worse. Will post updates when summer gets here and I can try it.

The first one above I know works for those that ran in to the same issue as myself … where they do not seem to gassify out completely after several days opened to the air. I am guessing the plastic mix they use may have changed over the years and does not fully gassify.

Tip if you try these things yourself. Use one of the rails that come out of the tool box to test a small area. Make sure what ever you coat it with does not dissolve or weaken the plastic. Also, the seal rings come out, just be gentle with them and they go back in fairly easy. Don’t try to wash or heat the seals as they will then lose their shape they were formed into and may stretch.

Hope this helps someone out there with the same problem I ran into. As I purchased 3 of these …. I was not about to give up on some really good tool boxes.

I will come back in the summer with updates.

    D.
