Rubbermaid ActionPacker Storage Box

Rubbermaid’s ActionPacker storage boxes are their toughest and most durable plastic cargo bins. ActionPackers are more rigid than most ordinary storage totes, and are weather resistant as well. These bins are also lockable.

ActionPackers are available in 8, 24, 35, and 48-gallon sizes. The two smaller sizes have removable lids, and the larger sizes have hinged lids. The bins are also supposed to be stackable and nestable when empty.

Prices vary, and you can usually expect to pay more online than in-store due to the products’ shipping size.

My brother in law has one of the larger ones that he keeps on a hitch carrier. Comes in handy for carrying stuff and keeping it dry.

I have gone to the Roughneck boxes for storage exclusively. I tried some of the cheap, clear boxes with 2 piece hinged lids and they just don’t hold up as well. The Rubbermaid boxes are more flexible so they don’t crack when stressed. Also made in the USA is a good thing too.

Years ago I did the same idea on my PWC trailer, we mounted a smaller Rubermaid box close to the tounge to store oil and other items we seemed to use a lot. It worked great and never had a problem, I towed the trailer between the SF Bay Area and the Lake Tahoe area quite a few times each summer w/out an issue.

I use a mix of Rubbermaid Roughneck and Sterilite Ultra Tote bins for storage as well. Like you said, they’re extremely durable and the plastic they’re made from won’t get brittle or prone to cracking.

But these ActionPackers do seem better suited as active containers. I pack things away in the Roughneck bins for storage, but use two 35-gallon ActionPackers for items I may need everyday access to. They’re more rigid than the Roughnecks, but not in an easily crackable way.

I have used heavier and I have used lighter weight (material) boxes but so far, for the cost and durabiltiy the rubbermaid is best. I recently bought an “action packer” for use on the back of my motorcycle. It keeps rain out, it doesn’t add much extra weight, and the contents can go in with me without emptying it out. AND, buying American first can help save our nation.

I assume you’re talking about the 8-gallon size? I wouldn’t have thought it could serve as a motorcycle cargo container, but it’s great to hear that it can, thanks for sharing that!
