Ryobi Special Buy Cordless Woodworking Power Tool Combo Kits for $99

Ryobi Special Buy Router and Sander Combo Kit

Home Depot has some “Special Buy” Ryobi 18V One+ cordless woodworking tool combos, priced at $99 each. These are online-only specials. Shipping is free, but you can also opt for in-store pickup, it’ll just take a while since they would have to be shipped there.

The first combo combines a router, 1/4 sheet sander, 1.3Ah battery, and charger. Here are the model numbers and regular prices for the items in this kit:

  • P440 1/4 sheet sander ($40)
  • P601 trim router ($69)
  • P102 battery ($39)
  • P118 charger ($40)*

*This is the price for the newer P117 charger, the P118 charger doesn’t seem to be sold at Home Depot anymore.

If you total the value of the tools in the kit, you get a retail price of $188. You can get a P117 charger and P102 battery starter kit for $59, and so a more realistic price would be $168. Buying this kit for $99 looks to give you a healthy 41% savings.

Ryobi Special Buy Sander Combo Kit

The second combo consists of three different Ryobi 18V cordless sanders, a charger, and 1.3Ah battery. Again, here are the model numbers and prices for the individual tools in this kit:

  • P440 1/4 sheet sander ($40)
  • P411 random orbit sander ($40)
  • P401 corner cat sander ($35)
  • P102 battery and P118 charger ($59)

The total price of the tools in this kit would be $174, and so you’d save 43% if you buy this $99 bundle.

Ryobi Special Buy Glue Gun Router and Sander Bare Tools

There’s one last combo that is out of stock right now, but I’m going to include it in case it goes back into stock. On the product page, you can sign up to have Home Depot email you if this combo is restocked.

This kit doesn’t come with a battery and charger. Rather it comes with three bare tools: a glue gun, trim router, and 1/4 sheet sander.

  • P305 Glue Gun ($30)
  • P440 1/4 Sheet Sander ($40)
  • P601 Trim Router ($69)

This last combo isn’t as good of a deal as the others, as buying these tools separately would cost you $139. So buying this combo only saves you 29%. Still, $40 savings means you could consider the sheet sander or glue gun as a “free” bonus, if you were planning on buying the trim router and either of the other tools anyways.

Price: $99 (currently out of stock)

Parting Thoughts

These special buy combo kits have been around for a while, but Stuart thought they might be a good post for this deal season.

Stuart’s Note: I actually don’t remember seeing them previously. There’s a Ridgid woodworking router and sander combo that comes around every year, but I haven’t been paying close attention to Ryobi bundles. I came across these when doing my usual “can I find tools that will be Black Friday specials?” scouting of new product listings, and they looked like very good bargains.

I spotted these deals a while ago as I’ve been watching the prices of cordless trim routers. I ultimately passed these deals up, since I already have better Ryobi batteries and have no desire to get a 1/4″ sheet sander.

That doesn’t mean that these won’t be great buys for somebody else looking to get into woodworking or who wants these particular tools. The two deals that are currently in stock will save you around 40% on buying the tools individually.

With the bundle savings, you’re effectively getting one of the tools, or the battery and charger starter kit, for free.

The only tool I’ve personally tried is the cordless hot glue gun. I picked one up as soon as they became available, to compare it to the Black & Decker hot glue gun. While the gun performs well, I prefer using the more expensive Black & Decker glue gun when I can steal it back from my crafting daughter.

Ryobi battery chargers dont last very long. Your lucky if you get more than a few charges. (P118) ?

You said the same thing the other day (https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/ryobi-18v-cordless-power-tool-combo-kit-deal-112517/%3C/a%3E%29.%3C/p%3E

      As I replied there:

I have not had that experience, nor have I heard lots of complaints about them. What issues have you been experiencing?

Reviews on the Home Depot site are mostly positive. They say that there are 590 reviews – with an aggregate rating of 4.6 out of 5. About 5% (28) of the reviews are 1-star. Most of those do seem to talk about failures to charge – some brand new – and some after use. So I guess a few should be lemon-yellow in color versus neon green. I had a Buick Electra wagon like that in the 1980’s – it was a cream sort of color – but should have been bright yellow. I did not purport that it was representative of the whole fleet – but it did give me (and the dealer) fits.

I’ve never had a problem in hundreds of cycles on mine.

The number one complaint I get in the comments for my P117 vs P118 charger review is that the P117’s have a high mortality rate, but the P118’s just keep chugging. I haven’t had any problems with either model myself though. These kits come with the P118, which I haven’t seen any significant amount of complaints about.

I’ve had Ryobi batteries not finish charging properly, but I don’t think it’s a problem with the chargers, because it’s happened on three different types of chargers.

I’ll take them off the charger and they have 4 bars. Then I put them in the tool, pull the trigger…nothing happens, and the battery gauge says they are empty.

I’ll put them back on the charger for a few seconds and they’ll say they are charged. I’ll put them back in the tool and they work fine. I don’t know if there is a bug in the battery electronics…this has happened to me with multiple different batteries.

Had a problem like that with the 1.5 ah lithium batteries. Got rid of them and solved that. No problems out of the 4ah ones.

      And I will say again.

I just bought a new Ryobi super fast charger but the standard charger I just sold was around six years old and still going strong. I have had 2 Milwaukee chargers fail in that time though.

The battery charger goes bad? Havent heard that one. I have 10-12 chargers right now and usually the contacts need to be wiped off ocassionally when grease/dirt/saw dust gets built up on them, once theyre cleaned you should ‘reboot’(unplug) the charger and i’ll work good again. Sometimes that’ll happen on battery as well, it’ll be on a charger and it will be binking “fault” so i just ‘reboot’ it and its good to go.
If any one the batteries get depleted too far down it’ll say fault. Thats when you trickle charge it by putting it in then out rapidly a couple times to put a faint of a charge for the charger to read that it’s a battery.

I’ve not had that experience. I have the newer 6 port charger and 2 of the single port chargers. I have yet to have any issues with any of the Ryobi tools I’ve bought.

Only 30 minutes for a 1.5, still takes an hour for a 4ah.

Yes, it goes until January 24th, 2018 in store, but they are ending it sooner online. Why I have no idea, but I’d read Stuarts article on Dewalt bundle stocking, and it might give some thoughts

There is also this $100 Ryobi lighting kit, which if ever in stock, is a great deal, and that’s with me not considering the flashlight. $100 for the cable lights, $50 for the spotlight retail. I have wanted to try the cable lights, and for the same $100, you get an amazing spotlight. It’s actually more a long range flood light. Give a few cycles of that to an intruder, and you will easily disorient them.

Shame about the combo with glue gun being IOS, and the issue with Ryobi chargers, never had a bad one but like many (but not all) who doesn’t have multiple chargers from kit deals we have purchased? I know I do for 20V max 40V max (OPE) and M12/M18 fast and slow chargers as well as Ryobi 18/40V fast, slow and super slow chargers (i.e. RC car and mister can charger).

I might pick up that first kit. I’ve had it in my basket for a month or so but without the extra battery and charger.

FWIW , I had the same thing with my DeWalt 18 NiCD/NiMH. It actually worked out nicely I, I sold them on CL with a solo tool kits probalby got more for the. that ways than if I sold them as a lot.
But I can’t recall dealing with a bad Ryobi or even other make charger in 20+ years.
