Sears Thanksgiving DoorBusters
These Event 1 deals kick off at 6pm Thanksgiving day, 11/26/2015, and last thru 1pm Friday at 11/27/2015. That’s in-store. The online sales will likely kick off earlier Thanksgiving Day, or maybe even sooner.
Sears Black Friday DoorBusters
Event 2 deals run on Black Friday, 11/27/2015 from 5am thru 1pm. Again, that’s in-store. Some of the deals might be online earlier and last until later.
Sears 3-Day Sale Items
Event 3 deals run Thursday thru Saturday, 11/26/2015 thru 11/28/2015. There don’t seem to be specific times.

Which of these deals strike your fancy?
As for me, I’m disappointed that there’s no deal on the height-adjustable workbenches, which were on sale the past couple of holiday seasons in a row. Craftsman’s premium workbenches, which we reviewed, don’t seem to be on sale this year either. Or maybe these will be deals that pop up in the midst of the holiday season.

Wow. Did Sears bump up all the ‘list’ prices by 40-50% and then discount them the same amount? Is this why the print catalogs are no longer available, to make it harder to spot them doing this during sales?

pathetic. i hate to beat the dead horse but i would be surprised if anything more than the pry bars or a couple screwdriver sets us made.

Those pry bar sets and many of their hand tools look *exactly* like the generic junk you can buy from an auto-parts store. They just have a different color of plastic.
What’s funny is their black friday prices are still more expensive or just in line with the generic competitors ….
I bought the 12-gallon XPS vacuum last year for about $70 and love it! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a shop vac.

This is pretty much the sale Sears ad as every other year, the same tools, at the same 50% off they are every month.
It’s actually shocking that the Thanksgiving 6PM doorbusters have $8.99 items instead of $9.99 “50% off” items – which puts them back at the price you could get them for during the Friends and Family sale on Sunday with an extra 10% off.
I guess Sears actually figured out customers noticed the price difference.
I guess progress is slow. Maybe in a few years, if they’re still in business, they will actually offer items for Black Friday that are 75% or so and get people to line up outside before opening. Sears is usually pretty dead during the Thanksgiving hours, and only a few shoppers line up for some electronics deals, at least those people who haven’t figured out you can get the same deals online with free shipping.

While a lot of these deals are no better or worse than “regular” deals, I think Sears’ goal is to improve their visibility.
I visited my local Sears, and most of their tool gifts are lined up in the center of the aisle that goes from the tool department exit to the escalators and other departments at the center of the store.
There are a lot more “gift center” tools that are worth considering, things like extension sets and misc. hand tools that I’ve bought during past Sears holiday sales.
I was hoping for a good workbench deal, and if I say this enough maybe it’ll still happen, but don’t see any other reason for me to visit Sears or Sears.com before maybe Saturday. I’ll save my Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday shopping efforts for other stores.

I’d say the regular “deals” are now much worse, since they are for gimmicky and Made-in-China tools, where previously they were for Made-in-USA tools.
If Sears wanted to increase their visibility for Black Friday, they’d need to have something that would stand out – some incredible low price on something awesome that would make people line up early for it, or be online hoping to get one.
With the predictable lukewarm “deals”, Sears is at best a “maybe” on most shopper’s lists, after they have gone to the stores with better deals.

I saw a socket extension set for all 3 of the main sizes for a decent deal the other day. Not sure why that isn’t in the ad. Their marketing department needs replacing.

I did see some good deals on the C3 kits. I know tool snobs will thumb their noses but . I have good experience with most of them. Now I did buy into this platform on a special buy and added to it over time. Very good for home owners , Diyers and even pros on a budget.

Not to rag on the C3 or Matrix because I’d gladly take one if I didn’t already have so many damn tools, but I would not recommend it to any pro. Image is reason enough. I’m sure there are some homeowners who wouldn’t think much of snapping a little router into a drill base but I bet the majority would… Doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t do good work, but I’d look twice.
