SK Tool’s modular tool boxes are no longer available at Amazon. They’re not only out of stock, all of the product pages have been taken down and I couldn’t find any replacement listings.
SK launched their line of modular tool boxes in January 2024, and they first appeared at Amazon.
They popped up on Home Depot’s website for a stretch, after which those listings were taken down too.

You can still find these tool boxes on some marketplace websites such as Temu, but it could just be old inventory.
It’s difficult to say what happened. Maybe the line never gained enough traction, or perhaps the tariffs pushed the import costs up too high.
Whatever the reason, this doesn’t bode well. If you bought into this line, hopefully you’ve got everything you need.

Following are the Amazon links from my launch post if you’d like to check. Maybe there’s a chance they’ll reappear in the future, but that seems unlikely.

This was my fear when they debuted, and remains my fear about the tough built tool boxes as well
My individual purchases aren’t going to sink or swim an entire company either way, so it’s a far safer bet to wait them out for a while.
The sk boxes were an interesting idea, but I don’t think online-only is the best avenue for storage products. Too hard to visualize usage and sizing
Stuart
I’d argue that in-store visibility is necessary as well, but some systems like Dewalt Tstak seem to do reasonably well online. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Dewalt+Tstak&tag=toolguyd-20
I thought that SK Tools would work out an agreement with Lowe’s, but that never happened.
Eric
I remember seeing Tstak in Home Depot years ago, and it’s still in Lowes stores branded as Versastak. I think it’s also helped by being much cheaper than the other systems. And it’s geared toward different customers. The people buying Tstak are homeowners that are going to buy a single sub $40 box and maybe slowly grow into the system as time goes on if they like it. The people buying into the more expensive systems are more likely to be in the trades and looking to spend hundreds of dollars initially and potentially thousands in the future. They’re going to want to be able to get hands on with it to make sure it works for them. And that the system will be able to grow with them as time goes on. I think with SK being recently bought by a Chinese company made people extra wary of both the quality of what they would get and it’s long term availability. Especially without being able to get their hands on it before buying.
Stuart
If I recall correctly, Lowe’s used to sell the Stanley version of Tstak.
Jack
You’re right about the TSTAK being oriented towards the homeowner. I’m a semi-retired general contractor and licensed electrician, but now I mainly do smaller handyman type work. Anyway, my first toolbox “system” was the DeWalt TSTAK but I found it too light duty to meet the demands of professional use. Even though I’m a DeWalt guy when it comes to tools, my storage is all Milwaukee Packout now.

I grabbed some tstak single drawer boxes from some amazon sale awhile ago at 25 a box. The latches that hold the boxes together are kind of badly designed and require some force to lock together or maybe I just got bad copies of it. The drawers are surprisingly nice though. It’s got metal slides and a nice click latch. I use it to store small hand tools and small power tools like drills. Unfortunately it’s too small to store bigger jigs and bigger power tools. 🙁 . I don’t hate it and will probably get more if there was a sale.

Maybe if people Google “SK tools modular + Lowe’s” enough times their AI buyer will make it a reality…

SK Tools lists all of their modular 2 or 3 drawer units and the rolling base as being sold out on their website. They have a few cabinet units available. I’m good. I got three different drawer units and the rolling base on sale last year from Amazon. I like mine. Compact, small footprint, not made to be a main box. Made of steel in the PRC probably killed them off in the states.

I tried to order a couple of these boxes from Amazon about 6 or 8 months ago. The order was placed and about a week later Amazon just canceled the order with no explanation. Figured that wasn’t a good sign.

The utility cart page is still there, but there is no way to order a thing.

If you click “see all buying options” it’s there. A couple with various amounts of damage and one that’s at a huge markup listed and shipped by a seller with questionable reviews at best.
Jason
“ Changchunshiyaotuomaoyiyouxiangongsi” seems like a totally reliable seller

That’s a shame. Never bought in myself but I appreciated what they were doing with them. Metal because some people prefer it, lockable, and didn’t mess around with playing a game of Tetris to get to stuff to begin with by just having everything open on the front.
Ryan
Another version of these are sold under Magnusson clikstor. They are black with different handles in orange.

It does look very similar but with some cheaper parts.
Dave
The only reason a page is pulled like that completely is when there’s some kind of alleged trademark or copyright violation.
Stuart
Are there any active lawsuits? I couldn’t find any.
Dave
I’m not aware of any lawsuits, but with Amazon, there doesn’t necessarily have to be a “legit” violation.
We get notices from time to time saying certain pages are suspected of being, or reported to be in violation. If not addressed, the page gets pulled and it turns into a “dog page.”

Unfortunate. It was a line I kept reconsidering, but was held back by the lack of a base unit w/ large wheels to go up/down stairs.
I suspect this means that new lines won’t get launched (are there any vendors who haven’t jumped on this bandwagon yet?), which I worry will stifle innovation.
LE
These were too expensive for me, but I really liked the idea behind them. I hate to see them fail but can’t say it’s unexpected in an already oversaturated category.
S
Interesting to note, they still have the product line video up on their Amazon brand landing page for all of them.

Off topic but I was looking for a Milwaukee packout product and Amazon had the Black on Red version of their rolling packout with two storage units on top.
$909 … for a retail $300 product (I suppose someone imported this from Canada or EU and tripled the price).
Hey Milwaukee, there is a demand here for Black on Red… undercut these gray market resellers on Amazon please!
As for SK… I still have some sockets from my Dad… I knew US Quality would end…
Stuart
There are listings from a seller in Greece, so they might be just be buying and shipping internationally, or drop-shipping. A lot of Amazon’s 3rd party listings are similar to what you’d find on ebay.
I assume we’ll never see their EU color scheme here. Maybe there’s a chance if demand ever dips, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Makes me wonder if Walmart is going to throw in the towel with the Hyper Tough Hyper Stack. The Walmarts around me havent had any in stock in a couple of months, and several of the individual items that were add-ons are no longer even listed on the website.
Stuart
My local Walmart never carried them at all.
