Count me in! I don’t have a worm saw, but i do have a regular Skil saw. I have just started laying out my batter boards for a 500 s.f. addition. I need to hurry up and get an inspection or my permit is going to expire. This saw would definitely help when i’m cutting floor joists, ceiling joists and rafters.

Well my work is continuing on our house and I don’t have a table saw so I use a straight edge and saw. Problem is my regular saw binds during cuts so I have to start the cuts several times for longer cuts. The light weight and worm drive would be perfect for that work.

Ooooh, pick me! I’ve had a worm-drive circ saw on my “to buy” list for a while, to the point that I almost bought a Ridgid one a few weeks back. But I held off because there was other stuff I needed more, so I’ll wait and see on this!

I don’t have a circ saw of my own; I use the one that I have through work, and it’s a cheap (but nice) Ryobi one that’s kind-of community property. I do find that I have a tough time reaching the last few inches when cross-cutting a 4*8 sheet of plywood with that saw; the extra couple inches on the worm drive saw would be all the difference.

I’m most interested with the magnesium weight savings. A certain heft in a tool gives me comfort knowing that it won’t jump my cutting guide with the pressure I apply. I’m sure this tool would take over the all breakdown cuts of sheet goods in my shop.

As my father in law (who was a contractor) taught me, you’re not a real man until a worm drive is your preferred cutting tool that you turn to first. While I’m still in “man training,” and rely too much on my miter and table saws for his liking, a new worm drive that doesn’t have a bent fence would help me make safer choices when ripping big boards, and get me closer to being a real man.

I only have a 18 volt 5 1/4 in saw. this skill saw will really get me motivated to do the job. What a beautiful saw! I have an older Classic Skilsaw that I used one of the Diablo metal cutting blades to cut some metal with this week to fabricate some parts for a Gas Grill out of 304 Stainless. The Diablo Blade I learned about here did a wonderful job of slicing up 2″ angle SS like it was butter! I have always salivated over one of these worm gear drives though, and had no idea you could get one in magnesium! I have an outside kitchen I am planning and this saw would be killer to have for it!

Put me in for a raffle ticket please!

I use my PC sidewinder with a home-made track/guide for sheet goods. However, for heavier treated 2x’s the 77 is just better because of the power. My wife wants raised beds and other outdoor furniture this year and my relatively old one suffered a couple drops from a roof before a friend gave it to me. It still runs great but can’t make a nice straight cut anymore, so it’s either keep the motor and replace the broken top handle, shoe and other assorted bits, buy another one, or win one. Hmmm…..

p.s. Love the site, I’ll keep reading as long as you keep writing.

I’ll be installing walnut raised panel 10′ wainscotting in a 1810 home for a new project. I use a skil saw to scribe and cut panel sections and window sills and a wormdrive tracks far more true to a straight edge with less vibration than a sidewinder.

We’re also installing a coffered ceiling in another room with tons of interior panels to be cut, a new skil saw would make this a treat versus my current worn out one.

The balance with the handle way behind the saws motor is a complete joke. I’ve used every quality circ saw out there and makita has the best balance to weight in the business. Also, you just don’t need that much power in a saw. Every time my co-worker would rip something to width, his saw would trip the breaker.

The control and power just don’t compare. And when did you ever lknow anyone in construction to say “Bring me over that circular saw”. No, they say “Bring me the Skill Saw”. Mine is 30 years old and the only reason I need a new one is 1. I like new tools and 2. the cord is getting worn. Thirty years of building decks, furniture, bars, and on and on. I want a new one and i”ll pass the one I have on to my son.

I would love to have a worm drive saw! My projects often involve framework or a lot of rough cuts in thick material, and having a saw that can power through thick or wide boards would save a lot of time planning cuts and having to flip boards or take multiple passes just to cut off one portion. I’d use it to finish up the next hundred feet of fencing I have to replace on my property, and then use it to start building raised fruit and vegetable beds for my side yard.

I’ve picked up this saw in store displays, and the weight savings compared to a normal iron or steel casing is incredible. It’s heavy enough to plant itself firmly on the workpiece, but light enough to not wear you out after two or three cuts.

I do fiber cement siding, as well as framing. This kind of work is very hard on circular saws. The crews who work fastest and do the best work are invariably using the Mag77. Others (particularly the Makita) kick violently when they start, aren’t powerful enough to cut multiple boards at once (most sidewinder style), or burn up quickly from the fiber cement dust and aggressive cutting. I am convinced it’s time to get a real saw, but the price is a challenge.

I would love to compare this saw to my trusty DeWalt. The magnesium housing sounds like a pretty interesting feature.

I just bought my first house, and money is real tight. Like any house in my price range, its needs work. My tools are all garage sale and hand me downs. The Skil SHD77M-02 is a major upgrade in my arsenal. Thanks

Nice. No cord to accidently cut off, and this will replace my grandfather’s saw that I use.

Light weight, powerful and cordless….everything that my current saw isn’t.

I’d love to use this newer lightweight version to start on a deck and hopefully an addition to a house we are in the process of purchasing now. My uncle has the old 77 and it is a great tool and look forward to keeping skilsaw in the tool shed.

I want a saw that will last the rest of my life. I grew up on a farm working with my Dad, building barns, decks and fences. He had a great saw. He was always paranoid I would cut my finger off or something.

Now that I ma a father I want a good saw I can teach my sons to use. I want a saw that will work through as many projects as his has an still have life left in it. I want a tool that I a can pass down to them when they are on their own and rasing a family.
This may not get used on a job site everyday, but it will be used by ever member of my family to build things with love.

I love this website! I also love skil tools. My skil wet tile saw helped me knock out 2 bathroom flooring jobs.

My non-worm makita circular saw binds almost every cut through regular 2×4’s. I should’ve saved up for a skil worm the 1st time.

    Crossing my fingers.

This saw would rock on my DIY chicken coop.

I would love to win Skil’s new SKILSAW SHD77M-02 because of its heavy duty cutting performance. I will be replacing my back deck soon and this saw would help me power through the heaviest of cuts. Thanks for having these great giveaways and great gear from makes like Skil.

I would love this saw because of the weight. I been a carpenter my whole career. Now I have framers elbow…. Any over use of any of my tools hurts. My buddy has this saw and little to no pain when I tried it out. Wanted to go buy one that day but thought I would try this instead… thanks and good luck to everyone

Just ordered the Sasquatch for a big waterfront cedar deck job with copper balusters here in Northern Ca- a new Mag would be the perfect complement to my brand new Sasquatch for cutting 4×4 and 6×6 posts.. I burned out my old mag cutting 2″ thick slate 38″x38″ column caps into stair treads and wall caps over 250 of them- it’s still running but shooting blue sparks..(my fault not Skil) if selected I’ll provide pics of the new cedar deck AND the 500k job that burned out my other one- After 30+ years in the trade Skil is the ONLY name in saws I trust- REALLY looking forward to the concrete saw soon to be released!
    Thx Skil!
