Snap-on has a line of Micro tool boxes that can fit on your workbench – or any other flat surface.
Snap-on says that these Micro tool boxes are “great for storing small items like business cards, pens, pencils, paper clips, and much more.”
The Micro tool boxes are available in a wide range of colors.

There are two sizes of Snap-on Micro tool boxes that can be used separately or together. Both components have a footprint of 8.5″ wide x 4.5″ deep. The chest is 4-5/8″ tall, and the cabinet 8-1/2″.

The top chest features 3 sliding drawers and a hinged lid that can be lifted to access the drawers and top lid section.

The bottom “roller cabinet,” which doesn’t actually have wheels, has 5 sliding drawers.
All of the drawers are 3.75″ deep and 1″ tall, except for the bottom drawer of the cabinet, which is 2″ tall.
Snap-on’s prices are inline with what you can expect from the brand. The chests and bottom cabinets currently sell for $110.25 each. Meaning, a two piece set will cost just over $220 to assemble.

Amazon has very similar P.I.T. branded mini tool boxes for a lot less money.

Hah. This is a gag gift, right?
Right?!?
Peter
Kinda but great for small stuff like pens.

I was thinking that the bottom cabinet would make a nice organizer for an electronics workstation. It can store the various tips for my soldering iron, desolder wick, flux & associated tools. Meanwhile my wash bottle for wetting the iron’s sponge and a few spools of solder can sit on top. But not for $100…. There are some tools I am willing to pay Snap-On prices for. This is not one of them.

So is a frozen juice can decorated for Father’s Day, and it doesn’t cost $220!

No, there was a mad rush on the Kobalt version of this, in pink no less. All because some Tik-Tok video showing how she stores her makeup in hers. So much of a rush that some ppl were buying several and selling them on Ebay for 3x the price.
Imagine paying 3x the price for any toolbox from Lowe’s. Heck, I wouldn’t even pay full price, if I absolutely had to buy one.

someone on FB Mktplace is selling the pink top Snap-on for $300. I asked him what does this have that the $125 version on Snap-on doesn’t have. Meanwhile, I did buy the Kobalt version for under $13 during Black Friday. Using it for all my sewing tools

My husband ( a diesel mechanic ) bought me this in the Electric Orange color for our anniversary ( the top chest and bottom ) I use it as a jewelry box and I love it ! !
I showed it too my sister ( her husband also a mechanic ) and I believe she is going too ask for it as well in her favvy color Yellow

Good job Kobalt and Snap-on! Now it is time for US General and Icon to step up.

Get a cheaper one and print a snap on label

I’d like to find some that are just large enough to fit tool manuals and warranties….etc.

For a minute there I was thinking that the PIT 5 drawer would be good to put under the Kobalt mini top box I recently bought, but no cigar. The PIT 5 drawer measures 9″ wide by 5″ deep, but the Kobalt measures almost 11″ wide by 6″ deep. Oh well, saved myself 50 bucks I guess. They’re cute though!
As for Snap-On, they have a lot of cuteness too, but for me, not a hundred bucks worth of cuteness. I do know that Snap-On have sold these mini boxes before; I had a co-worker who got one for his electronics bench maybe 30 years ago.

Kincrome also do some mini tool boxes, which have little castor wheels on them.
I just bought a tool kit version

Those be discontinued and down-under. Was it the 1/4″ set? And where’d ya find them?
James
They have just launched a brand new range – I got mine from Total Tools

Pfffftttt at Snap On pricing

A guy at work has the bottom chest that he keeps driver bits and die grinder supplies in. Pretty handy, but $110 is awfully steep. I think he got his as a freebie when he bought a big chest way back when. I’ve always liked it, though.
Dustin
These appear to be rebranded PIT toolboxes

Found them on the website, China origin just like P.I.T. but I didn’t even need to confirm COO to know they’re literally coming from the same factory. Same plastic trim, same design, same pyramidal adhesive feet on the bottom, everything. Different nameplate in the exact same location, and Snap-on offers a couple different colors.
Unless you really want the deep cranberry or electric orange or really wanna flash that name badge, may as well save a good bit of money as well as free shipping and get the P.I.T. $90 on Amazon with free shipping (2 day shipping even if you’re on Prime) or $220 list on Snap-on and still fall $30 shy of their free shipping (and they charge pretty hard for shipping).
Big oof.

It would be cool if they were at least making them themselves and putting in their nice bearing slides and stuff. That’d be super fun. But this is just crazy.

$8 a week for a year!

“Saint peter don’t call me ’cause I can’t go – I owe my soul to the tool truck guy”

I have a pair of the original Snap-On miniature cabinets and a pair of the newer ones. The quality between the two sets are immediately noticeable. The older cabinet slides work smoothly and never jam. The drawers on the new cabinets do not stay square in the frame and jam almost every time. It’s gotten so I only use the older set.
As far as the kobalt one it falls somewhere in between in quality. Depending on your need I would go with the Kobalt as a small workstation toolbox. Leave the new Snap=On ones alone. More frustration than they are worth.
BTW: I use my Snap-on boxes for jewelry and the Kobalt for kitchen tools.

Can’t wait to make fun of mechanics at work for spending like a day’s pay (for them) on a little box.

I know a retired mechanic that has a decent Snapon setup in his garage (where I go to “borrow” tools wink wink).
I think as a gift, it would be pretty cool. Alas, the price shouldn’t be over $50 per chest or drawer cabinet. Oh well…
BigTimeTommy
$20-30 like the Kobalt ones seems more reasonable considering $50 can buy you a nice Trusco toolbox.
Mark M.
Geez, and to think I passed on the Kobalt ones b/c they seemed too steep at $19!
Mark
These seem pretty fun but the video makes me wonder if it can even holf full-length pens etc.
Seems like a fun little piece of quipment for the garage or office tho. Might just put a smile on your face when you go to grab a pen out of it!
Seeing people here say it could or is, good for electronics organization. I could definitely see that
Boyd
They’re the perfect size for bic crystal pens and Casio FX calculators.
I know because I have one in my office 🙂

I’ll leave this here.

Never mind I tricked myself. These are just decor 🙄

Thanks for the Amazon link! The Snap-On version has extra appeal because of the badging, but it’s not at all worth 2x the price of the PIT version. The red doesn’t look quite right different than Snap-On and the old Craftsman red. The white looks striking, and that’s ordered (top and bottom). They’ll eat up things like pens, screwdrivers and other miscellaneous office items.

From what I remember, this is a throw back to the days when the salesmen would carry these little boxes around as show/demonstration pieces.
Rick Sondeland
I still have my top & bottom in black.
Picked up in 2000 from my local Snap -On dealer. Don’t remember the exact price was back then, around $200..00 or so.
Yeah, ouch.

Snap-on has lost their mind.. for 220.00 i don’t think so. Too bad craftsman doesn’t have one!
