Stanley Lowes Holiday Deal 2014 Tape Measure 4-Pack

Over at Lowes, they have a new Stanley high visibility tape measure 4-pack for $10. The special holiday bundle comes with a 25′ tape, a 16′ tape, and two 12′ tapes.

There are a couple of other tape measure deals going on right now as part of retailers’ 2014 holiday sales events. Here are the deals we posted about recently: Stanley 25′ and 16′ 2-pack, Stanley 25′ for $5, Stanley FatMax 25′ BOGO, Free Dewalt 25′ tape with organizer, Milwaukee 16′ BOGO, Milwaukee 25′ with free 16′.

I haven’t used this exact model of tape measure before, and so I cannot attest to its quality. I saw them in store, and while they don’t seem to be as cheaply made as the special $5 Stanley tape measure, I don’t think they’re near FatMax, Dewalt, or Milwaukee build quality. But hey, you get 4 tape measures for $10.

This is one of the better tape measure deals I’ve seen this holiday season, at least at the under-$10 price level. Given Lowes’ current pricing, buying each tape measure separately would set you back $8 for the 25-footer, $6 for the 16-footer, and $5 for each of the 12-footers.

You get 4 tape measures that normally cost $24 combined for just $10. Seems like a good deal to me.

I was there last night and I realized that lowes tools selection is frankly lame. With them trying to sell mostly kobalt tools, some stanley, and some Irwin there isn’t much left to offer and tons more to desire. When I go to Home Depot I can get almost any and all brands of tool which all complete for innovation and we see some sweet tools. Where as with kobalt and stanley they just kinda put out more of ‘classic’ tools. Not really new designs or innovations maybe besides that 6x screw driver.
I have a lowes gift card to spend and I couldn’t find a single hand tool that was new and cool.

Unfortunately, I encountered the same. Home Depot’s deals seem to be more varied, and they have greater emphasis on cordless kits and promos, while Lowes focuses on Kobalt tools.

There’s less variety at Home Depot than in recent years. I was surprised that there weren’t many Dewalt hand tool special buy offerings this year.

On the other side of things, Lowes and Sears are pushing more innovative tools, although some of those definitely aren’t recommendable, which will get more holiday shoppers through the door.

I’ll probably spend a little at Home Depot, but most of my holiday budget will be spent at Amazon this year. Other online retailers will share in a chunk of my budget as well, but Amazon typically gets the largest share.

Thanks for posting the tape deal. I will be at Lowes later today and may pick up a set. Tapes seem to disappear for long periods of time so the more the better.
Too often, “innovative new designs” actually mean different rather than better and are nothing more than a marketing ploy.

This set has been out for a while now at the $10 price. I picked one up early this month, mainly because of the two 12′ tapes in the set. I wish I had spent a little time looking over them first. They are, shall we say, homeowner grade. It’s hard to tell from the photo just how tiny and flimsy they are. Both of the 12′ tape belt clips came loose just from getting them out of the package and I don’t expect any of the belt clips to last long, they are small, thin, and weak. There’s no wear guard on the housing so the tapes are already cutting into the sides. The tapes themselves have a weird opaque coating that makes them dull and blurry. The lock on the 12′ and 16′ tapes kinks the tape almost every use. This was not my best purchase but I suppose they’ll get me by for a while. It’s my own fault for not checking them out before buying.

Wonder if they’ve changed anything about the manufacturing process. I own 2 of the 12′ tape measures that I bought some years ago and while they aren’t heavy duty contractor grade, they aren’t too bad either. Belt clips are holding strong for both of them, markings are clear, plastic is holding up pretty well after multiple drops, no real complaints there. Only ‘issue’ is they only have a 2-3 foot standout before the tape can’t support its own weight, but I wouldn’t expect a 12′ tape measure to reliably standout that far.

The label is certainly different but beyond that I can’t really say. The old labels say “Tylon” on them, referring to the coating on the blades. Maybe that’s why yours aren’t cloudy? I can’t find any information on what Tylon is even through DuPont (who supposedly makes it).

Stanley does make a 3/4″ tape version of the 12′ PowerLock if you want some standout.
