So what types of new tools did Dewalt reveal at STAFDA this year? There’s a new 20V radio charger that everyone’s been asking for, a 12V wall scanner, licensed products such as portable heaters, and a 20V cordless brushless framing nailer.
As Jay previously reported in Coptool’s STAFDA 2012 new product roundup, Dewalt is expanding their brushless lineup with a new cordless nailer. Currently the DCF895 impact driver is the only brushless tool in Dewalt’s 20V and 12V lineups.

We recently discussed Bosch’s new brushless CORE lineup, which will kick off with an updated brushless rotary hammer and dual-chuck impact driver wrench. In the next few years both brands will be releasing many more brushless drills, drivers, and other fastening tools. But for the time being it looks like Bosch and Dewalt are both looking to entice tradesmen with unique brushless offerings before they try to catch up with Milwaukee, who has quite the head start with their 12V and 18V FUEL platforms.
Right now all we know about the new cordless brushless framing nailer is that it is an oil-free 30-34° paper tape model.

The Dewalt brushless framing nailer will be available in 2 kits, one with a single 4.0Ah battery (DCN690M1), and one with two 4.0Ah batteries (DCN690M2), and as a bare-tool. Right now there is no ETA or even a rough estimate as to when the new nailer will be released.

The wording on the side of the nailer is a bit small and blurry, but you can still make it out on the full-size images: “cordless paper-tape framing nailer.”

Cool, all they need is 16 & 18 gauge 20v max nailers. I would be happy even if they werent brushless. Oh and also a must is that they need to offer bare tools on launch. I already have 4 batteries, I dont need more.

I totally agree about Dewalt making a 16 and 18 gauge 20v Max (18v Max Europe) I have everything in my tools as Dewalt, BUT, I had to buy a Senco Fusion 16 gauge the other day and it is remarkable. It was hard not to buy a yellow tool.
I have only three tools that aren’t Dewalt, this year I replaced all my tools with the 12/20 Max (10.5/18 Max Europe) because I wanted all my tools to be compatible with the same battery packs.

I guarantee they’re working on a drill/driver.
One possible reason they might not be coming out with new brushless drills right away is because the 20V line only came out one year ago. They still have tons of brushed tools they want to sell.
The same goes for Bosch. Both brands have brushless tech, but to put it into drills now might actually be harmful.
Bosch’s 12V tools are starting to become a little dated, so we might see brushless in that line before their 18V line. Dewalt’s 12V line is only a year older than their 20V line, so we probably won’t see a complete brushless revamp similar to what Milwaukee just did.

Excatly, i bought the 12V max when it first came out, and they still have the same tools.
Milwaukee has came out with so much more and im kicking myself.

Ooo, it has an orbital setting. The M12 jigsaw doesn’t have that, does it? Orbital should make a big difference in cutting speed.
I’m still waiting for Milwaukee to come out with a small M12 circular saw like Makita’s.

That looks awesome. Any idea on price? I’d love one. Be so nice in an off grid (say working on a cabin) with no power handy. Even with generators, half the time you can’t get tools to run off of one unless its high wattage model. Hopefully Hitachi and Bosch come out with one too (i really don’t need to buy into another battery system).
If only these companies would hold hands and build batteries that could work across all lines!@

Off-Grid as you call it – we’ve been happy running pneumatic tools from an engine-drivencompressor for major framing work. The newest IR wheelbarrow machine we bought – has a nice Honda engine and has been working well for us.

For the samller stuff and when the air hose is a bother – the Paslode cordless framing nailers work well for us – and we can charge the battery via a cigarette lighter outlet in the truck

I have Paslode im 90 plus.
And have a chance to try a Dewalt framing nailer few weeks ago.
Dewalt is a bit smaller, feels like more comfortable to use, less noise, no gas – no problems at winter.
Only minus is price.
Still looking to get one very soon.

The added cost will pay for itself in a very short time having not to buy gas cartridges. I have one of these nailers and it is a delight to use, Brilliant in fact.

In Canada the only store to carry the nailer at the moment is Lowes. Don’t expect much as far as help from the sales staff on the floor. They have no clue what it is nor have they any knowledge about the DeWalt DCN690 nailer.

I picked one up by trading my paslode framer. Supplier has a special, $299 with trade. Will shoot the small box 3800 nails on a charge. I find it a little heavier but the rapid fire is awesome. This tool is great to have in the job.
