If anyone buys the M18 chainsaw, they finally are offering a case:

I wonder if it will be cost-equivalent to the $26 Husky+elbow grease DIY case:

$79 is the price I heard, so about 1/3 as cost effective. But it looks “nicer” and has dedicated spots for your batteries, chargers, oil, etc.. It’s cool and all, but I don’t know that it is $79 cool. I’ve also seen someone mod a large packout box, that was way less cost effective.

This is my current cost effective solution, got it on sale for $10.99 I think:

I just looked at the ToolNut deal. I have a son-in-law that has the Milwaukee 2910-20 4 foot pencil vibrator on his wish list, $75 (18.8%) off on $399 looked like a good deal – but while most other retailers also sell it for $399 and include free shipping – ToolNut wants $50 to ship it. So the reduced $25 off on $399 – works out to a ho-hum 6% off. I passed.

That should not stop you from looking at other items at ToolNut as $75 off $350 does represent a 21.4% discount as the sweet-spot of their deal – and even $25 off on $15 is 16.66% off

Those Knipex Cobra ES Extra-slim pliers are fantastic. I wish they made them in other sizes than just 10″. They grip very hard and can fit places where full size cobras or channelocks, etc, will not. They are extremely handy for automotive/mechanic type work in general.

I bought one as well, and it does come in handy. It’s not quite long nose, but it’s very different from traditional water pump pliers. I like it better than my NWS ergo long nose pliers, although they’re different enough that a direct comparison isn’t exactly fair.

It seems like they’re a hybrid of a long nose or duckbill sort of plier with the classic water pump style. It’s honestly brilliant. I’ve been thinking about buying another pair and grinding the tips down so they come to more of a needle nose.

I too like mine – bought in 2020 for $24.99. Wow – Inflation now seems to make $33.17 a good deal (same price at both Amzon and Zoro)

BTW – we (in the plumbing business) tried Channellock’s Grip Lock series (slimmer jaw) of pliers when they first came out (around Y2k) and I don’t think that there was any great desire to buy more of them.

The short answer is no. At my age, I have slowed down a bit on trying new tools – unless they offer something really unique. I was glad to see that Channellock is still working to innovate. I sold off my interest in the plumbing business almost 14 years ago. But when I was involved – we were always looking for and trying out new items that we thought might improve productivity, enhance quality or augment safety. Typically – we buy a few samples and pass them around – then decide if we wanted more and on what schedule. Just as this century was changing – that’s how we started migrating from mostly Channellock to Knipex for most pliers.

I really like the ChannelLocks NutBuster series. They grip really strong and can even work as a small pipe wrench. The will chew up the flats of a nut but they do not slip.
