Home Depot Tool Deals of the Day – 12/23/24
Home Depot has a new round of tool deals, today only, featuring Dewalt, Milwaukee, Ryobi, and Ridgid cordless power tools, hand tools, accessories, and more.
Many of today’s special buys are bundles featuring existing holiday season deals and promos, presumably to help move inventory along.

Here are some of the deals that stood out to me:
Milwaukee M12 Packout Flood Light & USB Charger w/ 2.5Ah Battery – $104.97
This deal saves you around $25 compared to the ongoing promo where you get the tool-only light and the same battery for $129.
Milwaukee 50pc 1/4″ Tool Set – $89.97
I have this and the 3/8″ set, and would absolutely buy them again. I keep the trays in my tool box and the compact cases on a storage shelf – both are better constructed than the flimsy trays or blow molded cases most socket sets come with.

There are a bunch of these bundles for the same price right now, shedding $60 off the price of the “free tools” offer Home Depot has been running since the end of October. It makes a great deal even better.
Home Depot’s website says there’s a lot of inventory; this isn’t the first time we’ve seen these further-discounted bundles, and probably won’t be the last.
Dewalt 12″ Sliding Miter Saw with Folding Stand – $459
This bundle gives you the DWS779 miter saw and a folding miter saw stand for $60 more than the seasonal price for just the saw.
Milwaukee M18 Fuel Brushless Angle Grinder Kit – $149
While technically a bundle and not a kit, you get an M18 Fuel 4-1/2″/5″ paddle switch angle grinder, 5Ah battery, and charger for far lower than I’d expect.

Bosch Sale at Lowe’s – 12/20/24
Lowe’s slashed the price of their Bosch promo, where you can buy a Bosch 18V cordless power tool starter kit with 8Ah battery and get a free tool, including a cordless miter saw.
But of course it’s not stocked at any Lowe’s store near me, necessitating a $79 freight fee. Still, $199 plus $79 for a saw that retails for $319 might be worth looking into.
Lowe’s also took $10 off the price of the Dewalt 20V Max brushless oscillating multi-tool kit, dropping the price to $89 with free shipping available.

New Tool Deals of the Day at Home Depot – 12/14/24 only
Home Depot kicked off another round of tool deals of the day, featuring – as usual – Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Ryobi cordless power tools, hand tools, and accessories.
There are a lot of repeat and recurring tool deals, and also some new ones, such as featuring Dewalt 20V Max cordless framing nailers, fencing stapler kit, and electrical cable stapler.
KC Tool – Free No-Minimum Shipping, Today Only – ends 12/14/24
KC Tool has announced that, today only, they are offering free ground shipping on every order to the continental USA, with no minimum. They normally require a $75 minimum.
This means you can pick up that mini screwdriver you’ve been meaning to try, pack of insert screwdriver bits, Halder hammer (they’re awesome!) or whatever, and get free ground shipping.

The Viking arms are tempting, but the project I had in mind for them probably won’t happen. Good buy, but can’t justify it on “a just in case” basis.

Even though the Dewalt is considerably less expensive, I don’t consider them “maybe I’ll use them someday” types of tools. You either need them, or you don’t.

Well I bought 2 of the Irwin jacks. Had a need at the moment and it worked well. Put them in the trailer kinda thinking I wasn’t sure when I would use them again. But have used them 4-5 times already in the last 6 months. Has worked quite well. Used them to set bathroom partition panels just yesterday. Extremely handy. Just wish they were taller now 🤣

I also have an Irwin one. When I bought it, I knew I liked it more for its novelty than the couple of purposes I could think to use it. After owning it a few months, I use it quite frequently. It’s great for picking up furniture or leveling machinery or any other amount of things that you can. It’s one of those tools that you didn’t know you needed until you bought it.

I’m about to grab 2 dewalt jacks. I can purchase them for (2) for $73 and free shipping(employee store pricing) I bought the Irwin a few months back for $56 but I think I like the Dewalt version better since the pumping action is from the top and not the bottom.

Lowe’s has what appears to be a pretty good deal of the day (12/12) on a Kobalt starter kit. Get a case stack case, 4AH battery, 2AH battery, charger PLUS a free tool or case for $99.

Wow Patrick that does seem to be a screaming deal. I do not have any Kobalt items but might pick this up – $99 seems like a great option to take one of my corded tools (like my jigsaw, angle grinder, etc) and replace it with a cordless version with batteries plus the case which could be used for a lot of different things.

I feel the same way Rzorrok. I already have Milwaukee M12 & M18, Dewalt, and Metabo HPT batteries and tools. Part of me does not want to expand into a new line, but it is really tempting to get this for the very highly reviewed right angle impact wrench (check out the Torque Test Channel videos on that tool) or one of the other tools that I still use corded versions of (angle grinder and jigsaw mostly). Getting one of those with a battery for $99 is a good deal, but with 2 batteries and a box seems like a steal. Or even for the trim router even though I already have a corded full size bosch router and will soon receive the Metabo HPT plunge router deal Stuart posted about around Black Friday. Im finding it hard to resist!

The right angle impact is the tools I find most tempting. Alas, it doesn’t appear to be in stock locally and they are charging $79 for shipping. I find the deal a lot less compelling at that price. Probably a good thing.

So, I absolutely wasn’t thinking of this until I came back and read the comments.
For a little-used tool, I probably shouldn’t worry about it too much and should just embrace the deal. The only router I have is an old craftsman mounted to a horrible table that my parents found somewhere. I hate that thing. This seems like a better solution and would still take up less space.

HD has become such a powerhouse tool retailer. Online and instore, they are doing both of what Amazon and Sears could only do one. The last Sears store in Washington state was closed this week. HD also already is a big player in appliances…what else they could expand to? Electronic? Furniture?

I think the downfall of Sears has been rather ironic. Sears got big by taking advantage of a new technology of their day–mail-order catalog sales. Yet it was their failure to adapt to the modern version of that very same technology–internet sales–which ultimately resulted in where they are today.

Yeah, but the last few years of Sears’ life I bought so many tools for prices you don’t see anymore. Between Shop your way and sale prices, I almost felt like I was taking advantage of them. When I started in my business 25 years ago, Sears was the first place I went to buy most of my tools and I still have quite a few left from that time. I miss Sears. I don’t get into the business model discussions because I really don’t care. I cleaned up for a while!

I could get a the three panel rover for $200 at HD with 2 battery starter kit, but I prefer the stand light. I have massive Makita LXT and M12 collections already, but I’m looking for the m18 for family.

May I ask why anyone would buy a portable table saw over a track saw?

I like track saws for breaking down plywood, but table saws for repeated cuts.
My table saw takes up less space than setting up a track saw for rip cuts or straight cross cuts.

Table saw opens up a lot of options with shorter or narrower pieces. Hard to cut shims on site with a track saw (circular saw, no problem, though). Potential for dados and laps, especially at angles. Working from a stack it’s often easier to move the work to the saw rather than setting up a track every time. Sliding miter can cover a lot of this, too, though.

Track saws are good for breaking down sheet goods and some select cuts to trim something large-ish down a bit.
A compact table saw you can do any different repeated cuts, works with smaller pieces, create whatever width or thickness of lumber you need to fur out something, create your own custom shims, wedges, … to deal with something that you need to plumb or level out.
Stuff that one cannot practically or safely do with a track saw.
Ever cut a 2×4 neatly into three parallel pieces? four foot long shims?

Lowe’s is crazy. They have the skill pwr core 12v 10 tool for $ 149. I don’t have any but am thinking about getting it for my oldest who will be out on his own shortly. It has the tire inflator so it might get more use than any of the other tools.

They have two 12v deals right now for $99. Not sure if these are just deals of the day or, if this a regular holiday promo.
Both have a drill, impact driver, OMT, light, speaker and two batteries. Only difference seems to be the light and one of the kits has the newer USB-C charger.
Look to be good for anyone in an apartment, someone who doesn’t do much heavy work, office, etc…. Or, anyone who doesn’t need/want the 10-tool kit.

Other than being single bevel like most others this size, the only thing I’m not crazy about is the lack of extension arms – it’d be nice to have those as an option instead of needing a miter saw stand or using 2×4 risers for longer boards. I was thinking of getting a 12Ah battery for it but it actually does great with just the 8Ah.
If you need extra 8Ah, Amazon is still running them at $98 each which is a crazy good deal, the lowest I’ve ever seen it. I don’t know if those will be “ProCore” labels or the newer “AmpShare” labels but they’re the same batteries inside as far as I am aware. Pricing on the other battery sizes isn’t anything special lately.

For anyone interested in the Bosch deals there’s actually a lot going on with them but they aren’t marketed boldly. Basically buy the battery kit and pick from a substantial list of tools for your freebie. I was surprised at how much was available this time and how low the deals really were.
For the 8Ah batts you can get the batt+charger or you can get the twin pack of batts – free tools either way. I got the twin pack and the miter saw and it actually rang up for less than the $269 once the clueless salespeople pulled out the store manager to figure out how to get the promo to take at the register.
You can also get the 4Ah batts and have other tools to pick from – still a good deal but not quite as good for some. The great 18V sanders are both on the list as are most of the standard fare tools.
I took advantage of these deals twice in the last month. All said and done for about $400 landed cost I came away with 2 4Ah batteries, 2 8Ah batteries, a charger, a jobsite blower, and a 7″ miter saw. Just blows away any deal I’ve ever gotten from Milwaukee on tools or batteries, and the Bosch are excellent tools (miter saw isn’t top of the heap but it’s a good saw, so far), plus the battery quality is top notch.
If memory serves, the Bosch deals are going until the end of January or so.
Ace Hardware also has some good deals going on DeWalt promos – some that HD doesn’t offer and the same or better prices on the majority of them. I finally bit and purchased the 20V 3″ cutoff tool with the small powerstack kit – it’s a hoss of a cutter, best one out there I think.

I found this out by accident earlier in the week. When ordering from Lowes via app, if the free item is out of stock at your store it defaults to their $79 delivery service with no option to ship to store or home.
I ordered through their website since the 8 AH with charger dropped in price and selected the band saw as the free tool. It defaulted as ship to store (for pickup) and wasn’t giving me the out of stock errors I had previously seen. Stopped in to pick up the battery since it was available and confirmed with the associate that the band saw is shipping to store.

I got the mid torque gws18v-330cn and 2x 4ah battery + charger pack for $179 and posted about it on a deal thread here a few weeks ago. They marked those battery/charger kits down to $159 a few days after I did and it just so happened the day I went over to return and re buy at the better price they had a 10x rewards for members, that day only. So I ended up getting the better price and getting $20 back in mylowes money. I thought that was a pretty great deal. The best I’d seen before was the impact marked down to $159 with a bogo single 4ah battery and charger kit. Some other great deals to be had there too.

Lowe’s has the Craftsman V-Series tools reduced even more than before. For example, the ~$50 ratchet wrenches were marked down to ~$20, and now to ~$15 (depending upon size).

I just checked the V-Series stuff I bought – ratchet wrenches, flex head ratchets, socket sets, etc. and they are all still the same price I paid. Perhaps it is a store by store thing?

They’ve been marked down (twice) at two of the Pittsburgh-area stores, so maybe it’s a store manager decision. These were the regular head and the flex-head, in 1/2″, 3/8″, and 1/4″ sizes. The 1/4″ were marked down to $12.

It really depends on whether you’re in the market for flex head ratcheting wrenches.
These don’t look special, and the price looks like an okay value, but it seems like the typical holiday season deal to me.
It’s probably an okay value if you need them, don’t run back to the store if you don’t.
