ToughBuilt Zippered Pouches

After posting about the new Dewalt zippered pouches, I searched through my wishlist and saw that I had tagged ToughBuilt zippered pouches for future consideration.

I own several ToughBuilt tool storage products, and while they don’t see a lot of use, they’re pretty innovative and serve unique purposes.

These ToughBuilt zippered pouches aren’t that different from other brands’ offerings, but they do offer some nice touches that warrant them closer consideration.

To start, the price is right – $13 for a set of (3). That comes out to between $4 and $5 per pouch.

Each bag has its own carrying strap, which seems like it could be very handy. They also feature mesh windows, so you can see the contents without having to search through multiple bags for what you need, and heavy duty grommets for flexible carrying or mounting options.

I have not tried these out (yet), but they seem decent for the money.

Price: $13

I have too many of these to count. I usually buy them at Menards when they have a holiday coupon, and I get enough to make the shipping costs mute.

I also love the Toughbuilt octagon soft boxes.

In the smaller ones I usually put Kaizen foam inserts and store things like my countersinks, then I can just throw that bag into my job box.

They even have a slot to slid a identification tag into.

The large octagon bags also fit nicely into the side compartments of these ridgid tool boxes (with or without the divider in place):

seconded. i have a dozen of these. great for organizing small hand tools; the mesh makes it easy to identify, grab and go.

they have a grommet in the handle so you can hang them from a carabiner if you want to attach them somewhere.

i also have the octagon bags that Jonathan mentioned and can confirm they are handy as well, though i hadn’t done any kaizen in them (but you can bet i will now!). i usually use them to group power tool accessories in. i.e all’s the bits and bobs that go with my trim router go in a smallish one. the accessorries and consumables for my belt sander go in a big one. they are just handy, durable containers.

Don’t have any of these pouches but I do have a ToughBuilt tool belt/rig, I like it. It’s been through 2 construction seasons and has held up well considering that inexpensive and it’s made of nylon cloth.

I have been buying these from TechToolSupply.com, same thing, different logo. I think about 4$ when on sale. Really dig them. They made one of their humorous videos about them: https://youtu.be/7kFQJbEFTqg

I have their tool belt clip thingy. You can clip different kinds of bags onto the same belt clip. I used it daily at my last job and it held up well. When I needed to get down and crawl around I could just unclip the bag real fast, do what I had to do, then clip it back on.

They have some nice knee pads too

I have a dozen of these already — and just ordered 3 more the day before you posted about them. They’re great because they open up on the short side of the rectangle, the mesh window lets you see what’s inside, and the handle with grommet hole is very useful.

I think Milwaukee makes the toughest zipper bags around and I’m a Dewalt guy….

I’ve been wondering about the Tough Built stuff, the pouches with kickstands are genius. Could you offer your thoughts on some of the products of theirs that you own? I don’t trust Amazon reviews and NEVER see anyone talk about Tough Built products.

I got their pouches. They are pretty great. What I like the most about them is that they very fast to unclip. Need to crawl somewhere or sit in your car, just unclip your pouches. No need to remove the entire belt. You can also screw extra clips to a ladder or a worktable and hang your pouches on it. That’s a pretty versatile system.

That really does sound cool. How about durability? I don’t need Veto quality but I’d at least like the quality of the Husky “With leather” pouches.

I’m sorry, but I’m still not sold on zipper bags. If you ever buy a sheet set from a store, they come in a pouch. It does the same thing, and you are essentially getting it for free. I’ve bought several sheet sets this way, and especially the cotton sets, come in durable plastic bags, with rigid mesh top and bottom, and a heavy duty zipper that opens it like a box. Plus, the tag for the product image slides out, and you have a clear pocket to hold labels and reference cards for the contents inside.

Even a $4, this seems like a stretch for something that is essentially Convention Swag for a tool brand. These should be the container certain tools are packed in at the store, not a bulk purchase item. Considering I already use the bags from my sheet sets the way these zipper bags are used, I KNOW I would use them happily. But, they hold no value to me what so ever, from any brand. And that is nothing against the quality or preference of any of the brands that make them. This isn’t a Brand issue, this is most certainly a case of “We can get this for free, why are we paying for it?”

not all of us buy enough sheet sets to have enough pouches…you either have a lot of kids, a problem that involves sheets, or a lack of need for pouches.

plus “convention swag”? how many conventions are you going to where storage pouches are swag?
