Updates & Video of Ridgid JobMax Multi-Head Tools

Since we first posted about Ridgid’s new JobMax multi-head cordless tool system, we’ve learned a number of things.

First, there will only be two cordless combo sets available at launch, one that that includes the three most popular and commonly used tools, and another right-angle set with tools intended for use in close quarters.  We talked about these two sets earlier today and yesterday, so this isn’t really anything new.

We’ve also learned that, if all goes well, individual components will become available later in the year. This means that if you want only the oscillating multi-tool and cordless ratchet attachments, you won’t have to buy both combo sets to get them.

The combo sets should hit stores in early March, and will be priced at $199. The price on the right-angle combo set has not yet been confirmed; we only assume it will be priced the same as the drill, auto hammer, and multi-tool set.

We also spotted this teaser video by Home Depot that features all of the various new Ridgid 12V JobMax multi-head tools.

That video got me even more excited about this set.

I think the “weak link” might be the oscillating tool – not the performance, just how quickly it would drain the battery.

I bet if they ever do come out with a master set (containing every single attachment) it will only have 2 batteries and 1 charger, so I would probably get both sets = 4 batteries and 2 chargers.

Thus far, it seems as though most if not all cordless oscillating multi-tools suffer from short battery life. It’s of course too soon to tell if the same will be true for Ridgid’s version.

I was in Home Depot last week and saw a big display for these new tools. Not the tools themselves, just a big cardboard sign, probably about 5 feet tall with big pictures. Something like “coming soon” – just a preview to be on the lookout for these

I think it also said free shipping until 3/14 for the set

    Thank you for the update!

Taking a look at Home Depot’s website, the standard kit with drill, multi-tool, and auto hammer is now available for purchase with free shipping. Whether it ships right away is one thing, but it should be released within 1-2 weeks from now.

I bought a Rigid Job Max and it broke on me both times I used it. The first time it broke the washer around the tightening bolt snapped in two when tightening the retention bolt after it came loose through use. The second time the retention bolt snapped in the threads after the bolt came loose after use. Thankfully, Home Depot took it back for a full credit.

I love the Job Max tool concept but I cannot afford to have a tool break on me every time I use it.

I purchased the Jobmax combo tool about a month ago. It worked just as I would want a tough tool to work and I’m pretty rough on tools. The battries did loose charge a little fast but the charger kept right up with the work I was doing. Great tool.

I bought the Job Max Multi Tool about 5 months ago from Home Depot. Brought unit home charged battery and proceeded to use scrapper tool attachment to remove dried on acrylic caulk from a sink vanity. Tool ran for approximately 2 minutes and stopped. I released trigger and depressed, unit came on for a minor moment then went off again. Did this several times same result. Put battery back on charger. When charged went at the project again, same result. I also have the Ridgid 12 volt drill, purchased several weeks prior tothe multi-tool. Used batteries from the drill set on multi-tool. Same result!!

I packed up multi-tool and made 14 mile round trip to H.D.. This is all on same day.Girl at return desk reluctently let me exchange for another new unit. Brought home worked fine. Finished job in 15 minutes. Did not use for another week or 2. Next job I attempted was to clean old concrete paint from floor corners in my garage. Same thing. Runs for a minnie second and stops. Tool is virtually brand new but unreliable for use. Should have bought a Bosch. Any one else out there run into same issues with the “JOB MAX MULTI TOOL” ???? I plan on putting this on Face Book and Twitter

Its Ridgid to watch out for. I have had several Ridgid cordless tool sets. The batteries don’t even last six months. And when you contact Ridgid, they refuse to do anything. Dewalt is the best. I had a complete set and the same batteries for over ten yrs and I used them everyday.

I hear what you are saying about Ridgid I have a complete set of ridgid 18v tools that all of the batteries have gone flat on.
When I bought the set one of the selling features was lifetime battery replacement.
They say that I did not register the items ? One of the features was if you registered the tool, they would send you an extra battery and impact driver. I received the battery and impact tool but somewhere on their end the paper work got rat holed or lost.
They refuse to work with me on the problem The contact person at Ridgid is extremely rude and no help at all.
I guess I will have to replace all of the tools, I can assure you it won’t be Ridgid……
