KC Tool Deal of the Day: Wera Kraftform Kompakt Bit Screwdriver Kit (6/2/2015)

Wera Kraftform Kompakt 25 Bit Screwdriver Set

For inescapable reasons, it has been a very long time since I talked about Wera’s Kraftform Kompakt 25 multi-bit screwdriver set. I’ve owned one of these screwdriver sets for quite a few years now, and use it fairly regularly. This is one of my favorite full-sized EDC screwdrivers, and it’ll only take a couple of words to discuss why.

Extendable locking bit holder. Easy-access in-handle bit storage. Comfortable handle shape. See? I told you it would only take a couple of words.

Today only (6/2/2015), this set is specially priced as part of KC Tool’s Deal of the Day. If you read our recent KC Tool feedback post, and caught yesterday’s Knipex hole punch deal post, you should already know that we partnered up with KC Tool this month for a banner ad arrangement, and some reader incentives, such as choreographed deals like this one.

The Kraftform Kompakt screwdriver is a little chunky in-hand, but provides a comfortable and secure fit. Its extendable bit holder can be used in either of 2 positions, and can be removed for use in a power tool if needed. At the front of the extension is a Wera Rapidaptor locking bit holder, which I absolutely love using. I find it to be much superior to magnetic bit holders.

You also get 6 screwdriver bits – Phillips #1, #2, #3, and Slotted 4.5mm, 5.5mm, 6.5mm. Those slotted bits are approximately 3/16″, 7/32″, and 1/4″. The bit storage compartment is revealed with a push of a button at the end of the driver.

And… it comes with a handy carrying pouch that you can wear on your belt. I like to use the wide and long belt loop to secure other tools, such as a 6-inch adjustable wrench, before tossing the pouch into a larger tool bag or box.

Sale Price: $28

Deal is valid 6/2/2015, thru 12:00am CT.

Bummer, just finally broke down and bought one of these last month. They are great tools. I really think that it would be hard to find a better bit than the ones Wera makes.

KC Tool has had this set of Wiha screwdrivers on sale for awhile:

Might be a good bundling item.

Stuart any way to combine this with the upcoming choreographed deals?

Hopefully there will be some way to get all of the deals in the cart at the same time.

I asked, and will see what they say. I’m sure they’re also keeping an eye on readers’ comments. There might be good reasons why they cannot, we’ll see.

I pulled the trigger on this deal, as well as a few other things (folding ruler that’s been saved in my Amazon wish list forever, a chip lifter, and a neat little Wiha 10-pc Torx ‘selector’ set) to get me over the $50 hump.

Thanks for setting these deals up Stuart. I expect KC Tools will get more of my business in the future.

Now if only I could justify spending the cash on those awesome Wera cyclops ratchets…

I have had one of these for a while, and really like it. It is precisely made, and the Rapidaptor bit holder is the best of its type I have used. My biggest complaint is trying to get it back from anyone who borrows it. When I got mine, the seller had a deal if I bought the Kraftform Kompakt driver set along with Wera’s Bit Ckeck 30 piece bit set. If anyone is looking for another purchase to compliment the driver to go towards free shipping, I highly recommend the bit check set. A wide variety of bit sizes and styles, along with a bonus Rapidaptor bit holder, all in a very clever hard plastic storage case. The bits in the set are as precise and strong as any I have used.

I’m an ICI apprentice (2nd year in) and I bought one of these 6 months ago. Very impressed with the tool, but i want to try out the ratcheting model.
I have not been babying it, and so far the only non-cosmetic damage is that the bit holder sleeve no longer rotates smoothly, probably due to ingress of drywall/concrete dust

    Pros:
    –Most comfortable screwdriver I’ve used
    — the ability to change the length of the screwdriver shaft is very useful for max comfort or additional access.
–the spring loaded storage compartment and shaft are fun to dick around with while walking; a co-worker said he felt like james bond with it lol.
    — Lightweight

    Cons:
    — I thought the green rubber would’ve been thicker/more cushiony – it feels as thin as the cardboard on a cereal box
    — The gland end of the shaft sometimes gets in the way, but I believe this is unavoidable with any bitholder.
    — No ratcheting function
–Wera’s bits are great, but their square/robertson bits are shit. Due to the hollow grinds, the bits drop screws constantly. The benefit is that they fit in screw holes with debris in them easier.
