Wiss Snip Sale at Home Depot Holiday 2014

Over at Home Depot, there’s a new holiday 2014 quarter pallet display of Wiss aviation snips. They’re priced at $9.88, and yes, these are the regular USA-made snips. The labels on the backs of the sales cards confirm this.

At about $10/each, these are nicely priced. You could take advantage of the sale to replace older dull or worn snips, or simply pick up one of the straight snips for everyday general purpose use.

I recently upgrade my snips with Midwest comfort-grip offset aviation snips, but if I hadn’t then this deal would have been even mighty enticing.

If you plan to buy all three, the price is the same as if you buy a set.

If you’re in the market for new snips for day-to-day sheet metal work, as opposed to more casual use, you might also want to check out either the new Midwest snips (online?), or the new Stanley FatMax ones that recently popped up at Lowes. These brands of snips look to have more ergonomic and comfortable handles, but looks aren’t everything. Besides, Wiss didn’t get their reputation by producing lousy quality snips.

And as mentioned in our late 2014/early 2015 new Milwaukee tools post, the red team’s coming out with some new snips as well. Home Depot should be carrying them soon.

I got the 3 pack(straight, left, right) last year from Home Depot, they’re invaluable. I will pick up the straight snip because everybody in my house tries to use these for general purpose tasks, even after I told them not to.

Had the straight one and picked up the left and right today on my lunch break. Don’t have a need for them right now, but I’m sure I’ll find a project for them.

Duct snips like a Wiss M4R or a hand nibbler like a Bessey D24-SB – might also be a nice addition to your toolbox. Unfortunately I never see them at such a low price.
