Woot Halloween 2014 Tool Sale

Over at Woot (now an Amazon company), there are some pretty good deals as part of their Halloween tool sale. Above is just a screen clipping, but these are – in my opinion – the better of the deals.

Notable deals include Knipex Alligator pump pliers for 416, Knipex combination pliers for $13, and Knipex snipe-nose cutting pliers for $20. There’s also a 20-count Jorgensen 4-1/2″ micro bar clamp bundle for $49 that looks to be interesting.

Shipping is a flat $5 per order.

Deals end October 30th, 2014 at 9am CT, or when supplies run out, whichever comes sooner.

Some of these seem like excellent deals. I bought the 3 piece Tekton “Impact” Universal Joint Set from Amazon some time ago. It was priced at something like $10 – so $4.99 “seems” great. I say “seems” because not all tools that are painted black are up to heavy impact-duty. I found that I should have read some of the more negative reviews on Amazon. I should have also been wary of the price (even at $10) which was way below what even a single Proto impact universal costs. Suffice it to say – if you plan to use them as a hand tool accessory – or perhaps for a low torque impact application – then the price is great.

I considered picking up that set too, but I think Woot charges a flat $5 shipping which kind of takes away the “deal” aspect.

The Knipex pliers are great. I got some previously based on reviews here, but picked up the alligator pliers and the tekton bent needlenose. I have some other tekton tools and hope these are decent quality like them.

I always check amazon and see if the price is better with free shipping (prime member) before I buy at woot.

I’m eyeing the gear wrench from Knipex, I wish woot would feature that, but doubt they will. Maybe holiday sales.

I found those Jorgensen micro bar clamps to be pretty horrible — the release latch sticks and the jaws do not move smoothly. They are no match for the Irwin version of the micro bar clamp.

That stinks, but I appreciate hearing it! I have two of those Irwin micro clamps, and they’re pretty good. But they’re also plenty expensive, and go for around $12 per pair. The Jorgensens looked like they could be a good deal, but not if they’re poor performers.
