Today only, Amazon’s running a special on a couple of brands of work boots. There look to be 17 eligible styles, from Caterpillar, John Deere, Sketchers, Ariat, irish Setter, Timberland PRO, Carhartt, and Georgia Boot.
The theme is that all of the styles are on sale for under $100.

I’m not personally familiar with any of these brands, except for Timberland PRO. Have you tried any of them before?
Is this a good deal?
To answer that, I looked at the Timberland Pro Stockdale GripMax work boot with alloy toe cap, which is on sale for $77 in size 11.
I checked some of the other sizes, but they’re already sold out and only available through 3rd party sellers. Looking around, this boot is typically priced at $115 to $140, and as much as $170 at full retail from some sellers (e.g. Zappos).
I picked one of the other styles at random – Carhartt Men’s CMW6170. It’s on sale for $75. Its price elsewhere? $130.
One retailer claimed to offer a 25% coupon, but I couldn’t get it to work since their “list price” was inflated before being discounted to a “you pay” price of $130.

Anyways, it looks like Amazon’s deal will save you some money, if any of these work boot styles interest you, and the size you need is still available.

I almost didn’t post about this deal, but maybe one of these work boots were on your shopping list.
P.S. Who knew they made cowboy boot work boots?!

I got an email this morning from Bob’s Stores who are having several promotions – one is 20% off (use code PREVIEW) any single pair of work boots – including ones on sale. Maybe worth comparing

This might not be popular but I have to say I love my redwings. I have 2 pair and I think I need a 3rd.
Yes they are expensive – won’t knock that – but I get new shoe laces each year, they re-treat the leather for me if it shows dry – and the foot bed on one pair was replaced free of charge.
That was the big one. Still water proof – still look good today and one pair is 5 years old.

Love my red wing pecos

I’m with you on the red wings. If you have a store near you the support is second to none.you can return one pair within 30 days no questions asked. Free laces for life, they’ll clean them up .they will aso patch holes in the leather and certain models can be resoled.
I used to wear wolverines, timberlands etc and my feet, knees and back always ached at the end of the day. other brands make amazing boots as well but I find that I get more years out of the red wings.

Stay away from Georgia’s.

I got a pair of Georgia boots . They were cheap . Got em on clearance . I really like them actually . I wear them every day . However I don’t wear them for a work boot . Just for a heavy fall shoe . What don’t u like about the Georgia brand. I had never heard of them until I bought them

The Irish Setter brand is one of Red Wing’s brands. I bought my pair of Irish Setters at a local Red Wing store. You get the same free laces, leather oil treatment and repairs as Red Wings. I like them. They are very comfortable and hold up well.
Brian
Irish Setter is a great boot.

The Cat 2nd shift boots are available in WIDE sizes. Its really tough to find work boots wide sizes to i grabbed one.

Amen – my 10-1/2 EEEE feet have a tough time even with some boots they claim are wide width. My son’s 15-1/2 EEE feet have an even tougher time of it.
Nathan
red wing does. Some stores don’t carry all the sizes but they can be ordered and fitted. My set are all 13 EE’s. Not many shoes cater to that.
just an FYI.

I’ve tried Redwings 2E’s – very nicely made – but my wide high-instep foot took a long cranky time to stretch them out. I switched to Dunham brand years ago – not as well made – but come in widths to 6E. Same for me with dress shoes – Allen Edmonds fit me well – a lot of other’s 3E’s don’t. In sneakers – I wear New Balance 4E’s – same reason. When I’m over in Europe I’ve been tempted to have a custom pair of walking boots built for me – custom made last and all – but then I’m reminded of the price (more than I paid for my first car)

i’ve had a pair of “keen utility men’s pittsburgh steel toe work boots” in my amazon queue for a while now. my old keen’s are starting to unravel 0 stitching is pulling apart. the price on them just went up $16 to $133. i guess they are bumping up the price so that they can then lower the price on black friday? just a guess.

i’ve had several pairs of Timberland Pro boots. Specifically right now I have one of th titan models. I have worked them hard for the last year ….had them for a couple years but didn’t wear as much earlier in life. They are comfortable, durable, and maintained weather resistance.

a bit off topic but since you mentioned cowboy boot work boots, there is a cowboy hard hat as well on amazon

Red wings are tops. The ugly branding all over CAT and Deere boots really cheapens the boot- with that kind of advertising, they should be paying me to wear ’em!
Great site Stuart, you are quality man!

Bailey’s is having a sale on “Red Dog” boots:

Haha wow even John Deere’s boots are overpriced! Those timberland pros look like a nice boot though. As for the slip ons, do thee offer good ankle support?
