Worx Semi Automatic Screwdriver

The other day we posted about the Worx QBit, a new cordless screwdriver with interchangeable 6-slot bit cartridges. Apparently the QBit is a UK/EU-specific model. A similar tool will be marketed in the USA as the Worx SD Semi-Automatic Power Screwdriver.

The SD Semi-Automatic Driver Set Includes:

  • 2 bit cartridges and 11 screwdriver bits
  • Phillips #0, #1, #2
  • Slotted #4
  • Hex 3, 4, 5mm
  • Square recess #1, #2
  • Torx T10, T20
  • Screw-starting drill bit (for pilot holes)
  • 5-hour charger

As with the QBit driver, you slide back the top to rotate the bit cartridge for bit changes.

The US version has a darker and much more tacticool look that matches its pistol-suggestive Semi-Automatic product name.

The SD Semi-Automatic driver is priced at $37.

This is just begging for a coat of paint from a prop master to transform it into a gun of the future. It would make an excellent addition to my tool armory, alongside the wand of my pressure washer and my bullpup Irwin clamp guns.

Unfortunately, I think that’s what they were going for – to make the product look as weapon-like as possible. The name confirms it. When’s the last time anyone mentioned “semi-automatic” without referring to firearms?

Though Bosch, as far as I know, never said anything like it in their communication, I did read several reviews of the PS-20 as having the feel of a “9mm”.
