I’m up late, ordering a worm drive winch (thanks Firefly!) to lift the heavy head off my drill press for installation of replacement parts. I’m also considering a benchtop mill (from Little Machine Shop), which would require a lot of mechanical advantage to get it to benchtop height.
Here’s Firefly’s convincing arguments as to the benefits of a worm drive winch for lifting heavy items. I’ll still need to do some DIY construction to make a temporary gantry, but the winch will provide for an easier setup than I had before, with two pulleys and rope.

Anyway, I checked for my email confirmation for the winch, and BAM, a Zoro email hits my inbox. There’s going to be a 25% off flash sale starting in a few hours. Minimum order amount is $250.
I like Zoro for a lot of things. Sometimes their prices are high, other times I can’t trust them to ship something damage free (like 80/20 extrusions or metal tool boxes).
Overall, I have had way more positive experiences with Zoro than negative. Their customer service is great.

What are you going to buy? I’m going to get a Llambrich keyless chuck. I’ll need something else to push me above $250, but I don’t know what that’ll be. Maybe some 5/16″ socket cap screws if I can determine what I’ll need for an upcoming project in time.

FYI – works on the Milwaukee PackOut system. Missed out on the Home Depot specials, had been regretting not pulling the trigger on these.
Just picked up the 3pc. set (added to my cart as sperate items) for $216 shipped.
It’s still $279 everywhere….

I’m disappointed that the Bosch sliding miter saw is ineligible.

Is it really a sale when they have one going all the time and their prices are typically 15-20% higher than everyone else’s?
I got excited once to buy a jet jointer with the 25% discount, but with their inflated prices and tax in ca it was cheaper to look elsewhere, like toolnut, especially during the jet sale.
I’m waiting on another 30% off hand tool sale, though. Starret becomes affordable-ish, and some of their clamps actually become slightly cheaper than the competition.

They haven’t done 30% off in a long time (pity).
When I was buying for multiple businesses – we’d have our planned replenishment lists together and would “pre-shop” Zoro prices (minus 25%) versus the competition to see what might make sense buying when they had a sale.
I recall that likely candidates were Starrett and Mitutoyo items, Dewalt Saw Blades, Midwest backflow testers, some Wheeler Rex and Ridgid plumbing tools, and Jancy rotobroach cutters.

Thank you very much for posting this deal. I saved $646 on a specialized Job Tool Box. I really enjoy your site and have referred it to many of my woodworking/woodturning friends.
